Crews responded to a wildland grass fire involving a stack of about 100 hay bales.

With no nearby hydrant, crews set up a drop tank while several water tenders hauled water to the scene. Crews worked closely with the farmers to slow the fire and save as much hay as possible.

We’re glad a good amount of the hay was saved and the fire was contained.

Thank you to our mutual aid partners from Wilder, Middleton, and Sand Hollow.

In July 2024, the Caldwell Police Department and Caldwell Fire Department began an ambitious journey to expand our training grounds and secure the classrooms, offices, and support facilities needed to prepare our personnel for the future.

In 2024, the Caldwell Police Department expanded its training site by approximately 1.5 acres and enhanced its shooting range. The Caldwell Fire Department also expanded its training site to five acres, providing space for live-fire training buildings and other essential training props.

Another major milestone occurred in December 2024. Through a joint effort involving CPD, CFD, City Finance, and the Caldwell City Council, ARPA funding was used to purchase a 5,760-square-foot Public Safety Training Building.

Preparing the site has required an extraordinary amount of work. Crews have removed “Garcia Hill,” leveled the property, installed a foundation, and added power, water, septic, and internet utilities. Seepage beds were constructed for drainage and water control, and a parking surface was installed.

Once completed, the Public Safety Training Building will provide:
• Offices for Police and Fire
• Restrooms and breakroom
• Police training mat room
• Three classrooms, including medical training space
• Audiovisual capabilities in every classroom

We anticipate completing this phase of the Public Safety Training Building in early October 2026, with work on the fire training buildings continuing through December.

This project is much more than a building or an expanded training ground. It is an investment in the safety of our personnel and the community they serve. Local access to realistic, high-quality training will improve operational readiness, strengthen cooperation between Police and Fire, reduce travel for training, and provide opportunities to host regional public safety programs.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Caldwell City Council, City Finance, City departments, project partners, and everyone whose hard work and support have helped turn this vision into reality.

The future of public safety training in Caldwell is taking shape and we are excited about what comes next.

Cooking is the leading cause of home fires in the U.S., accounting for about 44% of reported home fires.

This oven fire call is a good reminder of why preparation matters. Working smoke detectors alerted the occupants quickly to call 911 for help, and a fire extinguisher helped knock the fire down before it could spread any further.

Keep your smoke detectors working and a fire extinguisher within reach. A few seconds of preparation can make a big difference.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝟭 & 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

Since breaking ground in April, crews have been making steady progress on the future home of Caldwell Fire Station #1 and the Administration Building.

Here’s what’s been happening:
🔺Demolition work is complete.
🔺Underground utility work is nearly complete, including electrical, plumbing, drainage, and stormwater systems.
🔺The west parking lot area has been prepared.
🔺Framing inside the Administration Building at 411 Blaine Street is complete.
🔺Electrical work inside the Administration Building is progressing.
🔺The foundation for the new fire station is now underway.

Last week was a big milestone — all of the concrete foundation footings for the new fire station were poured.

This week, crews will begin building the exterior walls with concrete block. After months of preparation and work below ground, the new station will soon begin to rise above the ground and take shape.

The project includes a new 13,854-square-foot fire station with four apparatus bays, sleeping quarters, a kitchen, offices, a gym and training space, along with renovated administrative space in the Administration Building at 411 Blaine Street.

Construction began in April 2026, with completion anticipated in Fall 2027.

There’s still a lot of work ahead, but we’re excited to see this project move from plans on paper to a building taking shape. We’ll continue sharing updates as construction progresses.

Our crews always look forward to CNR because our community makes us feel so welcome. One firefighter shared, “I’ve never seen a more grateful and welcoming crowd to a fire department. So many hugs and thank-yous.”

So, thank you! We look forward to seeing everyone who comes out tonight.
