Huckleberry Mountain Lookout Huckleberry Mtn. Lookout, used 1933-1995. This page will detail the restoration and reassembly of the lookout in N. Central Idaho. Maries, ID.

First used in 1933, the original lookout was a 20' pole tower with L-4 cab. The present 20' treated timber tower with R-6 flat cab was built in 1975. It was staffed up to the 1995 season. In Fall 2013, after many years of vacancy, weathering, neglect and vandalism, the lookout was placed for auction by the USFS through a Government Auction. Part of the purchase agreement is the lookout must be mov

ed from it's current location near St. Living in Idaho we've come to enjoy the rich history of lookouts and have purchased it to restore and preserve its rich history. Our goal to reassemble in N. Three long weekends and the new Hip Roof is finally on! Terri Summerfield picked a "rusty tin" look for the roof and it looks awesome. Still a bit of trim left on the center access door and solar attic vent but it'll keep the rain out. Thanks to Cameron Summerfield for the helping hand on the tin.
