🚓 Cairo Police Department Welcomes New Officer 🚓

Good morning, Cairo!

We are proud to share that Patrolman Benjamin Maki has officially graduated from the Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy on April 24, 2026.

The academy is an intensive 16-week training program where recruits gain hands-on experience and knowledge in key areas such as law enforcement practices and procedures, state and federal laws, basic police tactics, report writing, fi****ms and use of force, intermediate weapons and control tactics, crisis intervention techniques, and basic EMT training.

Patrolman Maki is the fourth officer hired under the recruitment and retention grant awarded to the Cairo Police Department. His dedication and commitment to public service are greatly appreciated, and we are excited to welcome him to the Cairo community.

Please join us in congratulating Patrolman Maki and wishing him success as he begins his service to our city! 👏
