Our City Linemen are hard at work this week upgrading infrastructure, replacing poles, and conducting routine system maintenance. Here is where you can expect to see crews and bucket trucks operating:

414 1st St NW: Security light pole replacement

📍Tuesday (Sept 15)
1455 Pine Circle NW: Streetlight pole replacement
112 9th Ave NW: Lift pole replacement

324 5th Ave NW: Lift pole replacement
425 5th Ave NE: Security light pole replacement

📍 Downtown Cairo: Gas meter maintenance and painting at local businesses.

📍 11th Ave NW: Storm drain replacement support.

📍 895 1st St NW: Gas leak investigation.

📍 Cairo High School: Active utility line marking for major projects.

Please drive with extra care around work sites. If you smell natural gas or suspect a leak, contact the Utilities Department immediately!

Help us give a long-overdue, and now doubly earned, official welcome to Officer Angel Ortiz Delgado! 🚔

Angel originally joined the Cairo Police Department back in March, but we held off on his official introduction so we could celebrate his biggest milestone yet: his official graduation as a certified Peace Officer!

As a 2024 graduate of Cairo High School, he recently completed the rigorous Basic Law Enforcement Training Program through the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC). This demanding 20-week, 784-hour academy prepares officers in tactical training, Georgia law, emergency vehicle operations, and crisis response to earn their official POST certification.

We are incredibly proud to have one of our own Syrupmakers serving the streets of Cairo.

Please join us in congratulating Angel on completing his training and officially earning his badge! 👏🎉
