Help us give a long-overdue, and now doubly earned, official welcome to Officer Angel Ortiz Delgado! 🚔

Angel originally joined the Cairo Police Department back in March, but we held off on his official introduction so we could celebrate his biggest milestone yet: his official graduation as a certified Peace Officer!

As a 2024 graduate of Cairo High School, he recently completed the rigorous Basic Law Enforcement Training Program through the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC). This demanding 20-week, 784-hour academy prepares officers in tactical training, Georgia law, emergency vehicle operations, and crisis response to earn their official POST certification.

We are incredibly proud to have one of our own Syrupmakers serving the streets of Cairo.

The Cairo Police Department would like to take a moment to thank the citizens of Cairo for the continued support you show our officers and our department.
Effective policing has never been something a police department can accomplish alone. It depends on trust, communication, cooperation, and strong relationships with the people we serve. Our partnerships with residents, businesses, schools, churches, community organizations, and local leaders play an important role in helping us keep Cairo a safe place to live, work, raise a family, and visit.
We are proud to serve this community, but we are equally proud to be part of it. Our officers live here, shop here, attend community events, raise families in this area, and interact with our citizens every day. The relationships built outside of an emergency or a traffic stop are just as important as the work we do when someone calls for help.
Every conversation, phone call, tip, wave, kind word, and opportunity to work together helps strengthen the relationship between our department and the community.
We know that trust is earned through our actions. We remain committed to treating people with professionalism and respect, being accountable to the community we serve, and continuing to build relationships throughout Cairo.
Thank you for supporting the men and women of the Cairo Police Department and for working alongside us to make our community stronger.
We don’t simply serve and protect Cairo, we are a part of and are proud to serve our hometown.

The Cairo Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends and fellow officers of Warm Springs Police Officer Chris Fisher following his tragic death in the line of duty.

Warm Springs police officer Chris Fisher was shot and killed in what investigators describe as a sudden attack while he sat inside his patrol car Tuesday night, and the suspect was found wounded in South Carolina less than 12 hours later. THE LATEST🔽

Labor Day Weekend: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over 🚓

As Labor Day weekend approaches, the Cairo Police Department wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.

Georgia's Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over impaired driving enforcement campaign remains underway through September 7, 2026. During this period, law enforcement agencies across the state are working to reduce impaired driving and prevent alcohol related crashes.

If your Labor Day plans include alcohol, make your transportation plans before the celebration begins. Designate a sober driver, arrange for a ride, or stay where you are. Never get behind the wheel impaired.

We also remind everyone to buckle up, obey posted speed limits, stay off your phone while driving, and watch for increased holiday traffic.

Cairo Police officers will be out throughout the holiday weekend working to keep our roads and community safe.

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend, but celebrate responsibly.
