We’re excited to share our upcoming CAPS CREW: after-school workshops for MTMS students!

Golf at Evergreen Golf Resort (Mondays, April 13 – May 18)
Starting April 13th, registered CREW kids will be transported from MTMS to Evergreen for six weeks of fun, hands-on golf instruction! Open to all skill levels, this workshop covers fundamentals like grip, swing, putting, and etiquette, with guidance from CHS Coach, Mr. Bailey and Mr. Heuker. This is a co-ed class & a great way to see if students may be interested in joining the CHS golf team once they're in 9th grade!

Tennis Shoe Crew (Tuesdays & Thursdays, April 28 – May 21, Race May 25)
Next, our popular running club is back! Students will train together after school and have the option to participate in the Rotary Stride for S.T.R.I.V.E. 5K on Memorial Day. Tennis Shoe Crew registration includes a t-shirt, water bottle, and pizza party.

Punch Needle Art (3-day workshop; May 26-28)
And finally, students looking for a more creative outlet will explore the basics of punch needle rug hooking and create an 8” x 8” goldfish design. This beginner-friendly art class is limited to 8 students, so early registration is encouraged!

It might be spring break vacation, but learning never stops! 🍎🚀 Gather your kids; watch the NASA livestream today for the potential launch of Artemis II.

Below are opportunities to watch & some info to share with your kids:

- WHAT: Artemis II is a lunar flyby mission, taking 4 astronauts *around the moon (will not land on lunar surface)

- WHEN: launch window opens today (WED) at 5:24 PM CDT & stays open for 2 hours. If weather not cooperative, another opportunity will follow THU, FRI, SAT, SUN & MON

- WHERE: the launch will take place from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, FL. The mission will finish 10 days later with a splashdown in the Pacific.

- WHO: 4 astronauts (3 Americans, 1 Canadian) - Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch & Jeremy Hansen

- WHAT COMES NEXT?: If successful, Artemis III (2027) will be a crewed mission to further test equipment capabilities followed by Artemis IV (2028) when astronauts will land on the Moon.

- WHY CARE? It’s been over 50 years since we’ve been to the Moon… and Artemis II will go further than humans have ever gone before. Artemis II carries the first woman & the first person of color on a lunar mission.
