FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Hope Shelter Receives $1,400 Grant from Cadillac Area Community Foundation Women’s Giving Circle
New Hope Shelter is honored to announce it has received a $1,400 grant from the Cadillac Area Community Foundation Women’s Giving Circle in support of the project, “Nourish and Gather: Building Community Through Food.”
This initiative is designed to strengthen community connections, reduce financial strain on shelter residents, and build practical life skills through shared meals, food access, and outdoor fellowship opportunities.
Funding from the Women’s Giving Circle will support ServSafe certification training for one New Hope Shelter staff member, who will then lead basic cooking, meal planning, and food budgeting activities with shelter residents. The project will also help provide meats and lunch meats to expand food access for residents who need meals outside of regular shelter meal times, helping ensure individuals and families have access to nutritious food throughout the day.
In addition, the grant will support seasonal community cookouts and gatherings that create opportunities for residents, staff, volunteers, and supporters to connect in a welcoming and supportive environment.
“At New Hope Shelter, we believe food does more than meet a physical need — it brings people together, creates dignity, and builds community,” said Michelle Munn, Director of New Hope Shelter. “We are deeply grateful to the Cadillac Area Community Foundation Women’s Giving Circle for investing in programs that support not only immediate needs, but also long-term stability and life skills for the individuals and families we serve.”
New Hope Shelter continues to provide emergency shelter, compassionate support, and pathways toward stability for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the Cadillac area.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Hope Shelter Receives Grant Support from Cadillac Area Community Foundation Men’s Giving Circle
CADILLAC, Mich. — New Hope Shelter is honored to announce that it has been awarded a $1,750 grant from the Cadillac Area Community Foundation Men’s Giving Circle to support its initiative, “From Shelter to Independent Stability: Transportation, Access, and Dignity.”
This targeted initiative is designed to remove critical barriers that often prevent individuals and families experiencing homelessness from securing stable housing and employment opportunities in the Cadillac area. Grant funding will help provide assistance with housing application fees, transportation to housing and employment appointments, and dignity exit bags that support individuals as they transition from shelter into independent living.
For many individuals experiencing homelessness, small financial and logistical obstacles can become major barriers to stability. Without access to transportation, funds for application fees, or even basic necessities needed during transitions, many are unable to move forward despite being ready for housing opportunities.
“This grant helps us address some of the often unseen barriers that keep people stuck in homelessness,” said Michelle Munn of New Hope Shelter. “Transportation, access, and dignity matter deeply when someone is working toward rebuilding their life. We are incredibly grateful to the Men’s Giving Circle for investing in practical solutions that strengthen pathways toward independence and long-term stability.”
Currently, there are limited local funding sources available for these specific needs, making this support especially impactful for the shelter and the individuals it serves.
New Hope Shelter remains committed to providing compassionate emergency shelter, support services, and pathways toward stability for individuals and families in the community.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Hope Shelter Receives Youth Advisory Committee Grant to Enhance Safe and Playful Outdoor Space
Cadillac, Michigan — New Hope Shelter is proud to announce it has received a $4,207 grant from the Cadillac Area Community Foundation Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) to support the “Safe and Playful Space” project at the shelter.
This funding will help expand and improve the shelter’s playground area for children and families staying at New Hope Shelter. The project builds on earlier playground improvements made possible through support from Rotary International earlier this year.
The YAC grant will fund important safety enhancements, including additional security cameras, as well as playground essentials, outdoor toys, and other features designed to create a welcoming, engaging, and secure environment for children at the shelter.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Cadillac Area Community Foundation Youth Advisory Committee for investing in the children and families we serve,” said Michelle Munn, Executive Director. “This project is about more than playground equipment — it’s about creating a space where children can feel safe, play freely, and simply enjoy being kids during difficult times.”
The enhanced playground area will provide children with opportunities for active play, social interaction, and emotional well-being while families work toward stability and housing solutions.
New Hope Shelter extends sincere appreciation to both the Youth Advisory Committee and Rotary for their continued support and commitment to strengthening the community and improving the lives of local families.

This thoughtful gift brought so many smiles to the individuals and families staying in shelter. Small acts of kindness like this remind our residents that our community cares deeply about them and that they are seen, valued, and supported.

A SUCCESS STORY WORTH CELEBRATING 🇺🇸🏡

One of our veterans came to us after losing his housing—and nearly everything he owned. What could have been the end of his story became a powerful new beginning.

From day one, he showed determination:
✔️ Kept every appointment
✔️ Turned in every document requested
✔️ Actively searched for employment
✔️ Pushed through the highs and lows without giving up

With the support of New Hope Shelter and strong community collaboration, we were able to connect him to vital resources, including the SSVF program through NMCAA, Salvation Army, Love INC, and Samantha Baldwin Healthcare. Together, barriers were removed, and a path forward was built.

Through it all, we:
💙 Encouraged him to keep going
💙 Helped plan next steps for long-term success
💙 Celebrated every win along the way
💙 Remained a steady presence during uncertain times

Today, he is officially in his own home.

This is what happens when a community comes together.

At New Hope Shelter, we are more than just a bed—
we are support, stability, guidance, and hope.

To anyone facing difficult circumstances: don’t give up. Your story isn’t over.

We have just $1,192.95 left to raise to reach our goal!
Please help us cross the finish line so we can move forward with this important need. God has been faithful every step of the way—providing, guiding, and giving us the courage to keep asking and believing.
If you’re able to give, now is the time. Every dollar brings us closer.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping make dignity, hope, and care possible for those we serve. 💛

We have a specific and important need at the shelter right now and are asking for your help.

We are currently in need of new men’s and women’s underwear (all sizes), as well as sweats or scrubs. When guests arrive, we offer them the opportunity to wash their clothing and change into something clean and comfortable. These items help provide dignity, comfort, and a fresh start.

Because these items are regularly used and not always returned, our supply is running low. While we are not able to keep all types of clothing in stock, these essentials are something we consistently need to support those we serve.

If you would like to donate:
📅 Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (please call ahead to make sure someone is available)
📞 231-468-2022
📅 Sunday–Saturday: 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM (drop-offs welcome during these hours)

Thank you for helping us continue to provide care, dignity, and support to our community. 💙
