The Montgomery County Lynching Memorial Project shared one of its latest public endeavors: Tracing Freedom -- Mapping Historic Black Communities in Montgomery County.

Learn more about the resilient, historic Black communities in Montgomery County that grew out of enslavement.

This is the history of historic Black communities in Montgomery County, MD -- where they came from, where they went, and what they became. It is an ongoing research project.
