Firing up the grill this weekend? Grilling is a great way to enjoy time with family and friends.

To stay safe while cooking:
• Use grills outdoors only. Place them well away from siding, deck railings, and overhangs. Do not use grills under porches, balconies, or tree branches.
• Keep a 3-foot “safety zone” around the grill for kids and pets.
• Never leave a grill unattended.

Did you know that home fire sprinklers can reduce the risk of dying in a home fire by about 90%? These systems respond quickly, often controlling or extinguishing a fire before firefighters even arrive — giving families valuable time to escape safely.

Modern home fire sprinklers are:
✅ Fast-acting
✅ Reliable
✅ Designed to protect lives and property
✅ Activated individually — not all at once

Fire can spread in less than 2 minutes. A home fire sprinkler system helps provide peace of mind when every second counts.

🔥 Wildfire Update – Georgia (4/27)

Yesterday, the Georgia Forestry Commission responded to 10 new wildfires, burning 19.7 acres statewide.

This does not include:
• The Pineland Rd Fire, now estimated at 32,331 acres and 10% contained
• The Highway 82 Fire in Brantley County, now estimated at 20,933 acres and 6% contained

🌧️ A note on conditions:
We did receive some rain on the fires yesterday! While it was not nearly enough to put the fires out, it may help slow fire activity temporarily to give crews an opportunity to make good progress.

⚠️ Safety Reminders:
➡️ Stay clear of active fire areas—crews and equipment need space to operate safely
➡️ 🚁 Keep the airspace clear—no drones near wildfires
➡️ Be alert for smoke on roadways and changing visibility conditions
➡️ Pay close attention to local alerts, including road closures and evacuation notices

These fires remain active, and conditions can change quickly.

• Statewide wildfire resources: https://gatrees.org/current-wildfire-information-and-resources/

We appreciate the continued efforts of firefighters, first responders, and partners working across Georgia, and the cooperation of communities during this time.

Every call, every acre, and every response matters—and so does prevention.

Fighting fire. Protecting forests. Serving Georgia.
