Building Bridges & Strengthening Alliances in Paraguay! 🇺🇸🇵🇾

When our Massachusetts National Guard Soldiers and Airmen deploy, they don't just build structures—they build lasting international partnerships.

More than 50 personnel from the 181st Engineer Vertical Construction Company and the 102nd Civil Engineer Squadron recently returned from a joint mission near Asunción, Paraguay. Working side-by-side with our Paraguayan partners, they completed critical renovations at Centro de Entrenamiento Conjunto de Operaciones de Paz (CECOPAZ) and a sniper tower at the Escuela de Infantería.

These rapid facility upgrades directly support preparations for Fuerzas Comando 2026—a major U.S. Southern Command-sponsored special operations competition hosting over 20 nations this month!

Why this mission mattered:

Contingency Training: Teams adapted to limited equipment in a foreign operating environment, sharpening vital expeditionary engineering skills.

Joint Integration: Air National Guard and Army National Guard units worked seamlessly alongside local military partners.

25 Years of Friendship: This mission marks nearly a quarter-century of the Massachusetts-Paraguay State Partnership Program (SPP) alliance.

As Master Sgt. Bradford Townsend put it: "Working with the Army has been fantastic because we all speak the same language – construction."

JOINT FORCE READY: While Air Mobility Command’s Turbo Distribution 26-1 exercise focused on rapid, joint port-opening capabilities, the mission couldn't fly without the essential ground-level support of our 102nd Intelligence Wing Airmen.

Operating out of Joint Base Cape Cod, members of the 102nd Intelligence Wing provided critical logistical, administrative, and tactical support to transition Otis ANGB into a highly capable Aerial Port of Debarkation (APOD).

From cargo staging and fuels to airfield security and personnel beddown, 102 IW members ensured USTRANSCOM and joint partners could execute this vital proof-of-concept smoothly.

Successful operations like TD 26-1 pave the way for a potential 10-year agreement to continue hosting these elite port-opening exercises right here on the Cape.

Tested. Challenged. Ready. 💪🇺🇸

The 102nd Intelligence Wing put its skills to the test during PATRIOTS RESOLVE, a four-day combat readiness inspection on Otis Air National Guard Base.

Airmen faced realistic challenges designed to disrupt operations, operating around the clock. In a simulated contested and degraded environment, they demonstrated the readiness, resilience and adaptability required to accomplish the mission.

PATRIOTS RESOLVE evaluated the wing’s ability to respond, recover and continue operations under pressure, showcasing the professionalism and dedication of wing Airmen every step of the way.

The 102nd Intelligence Wing is conducting a training exercise, June 3-7, 2026, at Otis Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts.

As part of the planned exercise, residents of the local community may hear simulated weapons fire, sirens or the installation's public address system related to the training, but there is no need for concern.

Periodic exercises help train personnel and sharpen their skills to ensure they are prepared to respond during an actual emergency.

Forging lethal defenders and warfighters ⚡💪

Air National Guard Security Forces defenders from five states enhanced air base ground defense tactics, techniques and procedures during the U.S. Army's 3rd Battalion, The 75th Ranger Regiment certification exercise at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Defenders completed a multi-day OPFOR academy featuring small-unit tactics, live-fire training, counter-sUAS familiarization and mission planning, led by the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Counter Threat Home Station Training Team.

They then deployed to an austere airfield for a weeklong point-defense mission, operating under field conditions with limited resources.

Elevating mission readiness 📡

Airmen from the 212th Engineering Installation Squadron conducted tower-climbing training, sharpening the skills needed to sustain and strengthen communications systems at home and abroad.

Training included climbing, preventive maintenance, knot-tying and vehicle operations in preparation for an upcoming mission. During the mission, Airmen will scale a 112-foot tower to install cabling systems and antennas, improving base communications and strengthening critical air-to-ground and ground-to-air links in support of F-16C operations.

Ready to save lives 🇺🇸🚑

Medics from the 102nd Intelligence Wing and 104th Fighter Wing stood ready at the start line of the 130th Boston Marathon after preparing early yesterday morning in Hopkinton to provide critical medical and casualty support in the event of an emergency.

The Massachusetts National Guard — The Nation's First Soldiers and Airmen supported civil authorities by providing medical care and security throughout the route, helping ensure a safe and positive experience for runners and spectators.

Whether supporting large-scale events or responding to crises, the Air National Guard remains ready, working alongside local, state and federal partners to protect and serve communities when they are needed most.

Pushing limits in a joint environment 💪

Senior Airman Jake Harrison and Tech. Sgt. Patrick McGuiness from the 102nd Intelligence Wing, and Airman 1st Class Elijah Harris-Lariviere from the 104th Fighter Wing, represented the Air National Guard at the 2026 Massachusetts Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition.

The three-day competition brought together more than 40 soldiers, noncommissioned officers and airmen from the Massachusetts National Guard — The Nation's First and Irish Defence Forces, testing physical endurance, tactical skills and mental resilience. Events included the Expert Physical Fitness Assessment, weapons qualification and stress shoot, land navigation, warrior lanes and a 12-mile ruck march.

Airmen pushed their limits, built joint-service relationships and returned with sharpened skills and increased readiness to bring back to their units.

The 102nd Force Support Squadron strengthened its mission capabilities during a Home Station Readiness Training event, bringing together Airmen from across specialties for hands-on training on Otis Air National Guard Base, ready to deploy when called.

From contingency personnel support and search and recovery to shelter building, feeding operations, and professional development, Airmen built the skills needed to operate in austere environments and keep missions moving.
