Welcome to National Donut Day! This holiday began during World War 1 when the Salvation Army dispatched over 250 women to France's front lines to deliver food to the soldiers. When they arrived, they noticed that it was easy for them to fry up donuts in army helmets, and that the shape of the helmet allowed up to seven donuts at a time to be fried....true story. πŸ©πŸ˜‹

The Ocean Report for the beaches of Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras Villages for Thursday, June 4th. Current as of 0343 hrs.

Welcome to National Cognac Day! Cognac goes all the back to the 17th century. It began in the French city of Cognac (go figure). The wineries in the area wanted to ship their wines to distant ports all over Europe but were afraid that the wine wouldn't withstand the shipping process, so they began distilling their wine and in the process created cognac. Try some today....after the beach and out of the sun! πŸ‡πŸ˜‰
