π³βοΈ SHOULD OUR SPORTS FIELDS HAVE MORE SHADE? β½π₯
If you've ever spent a summer afternoon at a soccer game, softball tournament, baseball game, or football practice, you probably know exactly why we're asking this question.
Northern California summers can get HOT.
While our athletes are out competing, parents, grandparents, coaches, referees, and spectators often spend hours sitting in the sun supporting their kids.
So we're curious...
π¬ Should our sports complexes focus more on adding shaded areas?
Some ideas could include:
π³ More shade trees around fields
β± Additional shade structures
πͺ Covered spectator seating
π₯€ Shaded gathering areas near concessions and restrooms
β½ Cooler spaces for athletes between games
Better shade doesn't just improve comfortβit can also help with heat safety and encourage more families to stay and enjoy tournaments, games, and community events.
As we continue our Park Audit Series, this is one of the most common suggestions we've heard from parents and spectators.
Now we want to hear from YOU.
π Would additional shade be a priority for you at our sports facilities?
Tell us where you've seen great shade solutions and what parks or sports complexes could benefit most.
