It is a day that comes around once a year, but we still often find it hard to imagine the events of September 11th 2001. On what started out as a normal sunny morning, quickly turned into a day that we will never forget.

On that morning, thousands of lives changed in an instant, and many are still dealing with the effects of it today. 2,977 people lost their lives, New York City lost 441 first responders and since then, over 6,000 people have died from long term health effects and illness related to the attacks.

Everyday this Flag of Honor hangs in our station with pride, on it are the names of every life that was lost on that day. Take a moment today to reflect and remember the citizens we lost.

We would like to take a moment today to remember one of our fallen brothers, Charles J Deal, who died in the line of duty 39 years ago today.

He is forever remembered on our memorial wall in our station.

You may notice someone familiar on the front page of the Butler Eagle today.

Arlo got lots of love at the Butler County Humane Society’s barking lot party. Most of you know that Arlo was adopted from them about a year and a half ago and has lived at our fire station since.

We would encourage everyone to go find themselves a furry friend (or two) so that they can bring joy into your lives just like Arlo does for our firefighters.

In partnership with Butler County Safe Kids, we will be doing bicycle helmet fittings (with free bike helmets while supplies last), and a car seat round up event (collection of old, damaged, or expired car seats) at the fire station on Saturday August 29, 2026 from 9am to 11am.

This weekend is the 4th annual Jimmy Ellis training weekend. We will have about 75% of our department attending classes or working as support staff for 3 days of training, brotherhood and networking with firefighters from around the country.

We will try to share pictures of the weekend as much as we can, but we also want to highlight why this weekend is so important.

The event honors the late Cpt. Jimmy Ellis, a 32-year veteran volunteer firefighter who was vice president of Adams Area Fire District and career firefighter with the City of Pittsburgh.

To all attending this weekend, we hope you have a great and memorable time!
