Congratulations to Claire Butterfield, recipient of this year's Hodder Family Scholarship, in memory of Tom Hodder, a life member of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company. Tom's family would like to continue the legacy of family in the fire service and honor those who serve our community with the CTVFC. Claire, a fourth generation firefighter, will be studying nursing at Penn West Clarion. Congrats Claire!

Twenty five years ago, our nation endured a day that forever changed the course of history. Though a quarter of a century has passed, the memories, the heroes, and the sacrifices of that day remain deeply embedded in our hearts.

We must never forget the thousands of innocent lives lost, the brave first responders who ran toward danger, and the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others and to our great nation.

The members of the CTVFC have gathered every year since 9/11/2001 to raise the flag over Route 19 in front of the Park Station on the morning of September 11th to honor all who lost their lives during the attacks.

All members, their families, and the general public are welcome to join us as we raise the flag. Sunrise is at 6:56 AM on September 11th. We will gather at sunset to lower the flag. Sunset on September 11, 2026, will be at 7:37 PM.
Throughout the morning, we will also observe six moments of silence and the sounding of taps marking the key events of 9/11:
• 8:46 a.m.: Hijackers deliberately crashed American Airlines Flight 11 into floors 93 through 99 of the North Tower.
• 9:03 a.m.: Hijackers deliberately crashed United Airlines Flight 175 into floors 77 through 85 of the South Tower.
• 9:37 a.m.: Hijackers deliberately crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon, near Washington, D.C.
• 9:59 a.m.: The South Tower collapsed.
• 10:03 a.m.: After learning of the other attacks, passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 launched a counterattack on hijackers aboard their plane to try to seize control of the aircraft. In response, the hijackers crashed the plane into an empty field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
• 10:28 a.m.: The North Tower collapsed, leaving the 16-acre World Trade Center site in ruins and collateral damage affecting all adjacent properties and streets. The rescue effort commenced immediately.
The public is welcome to stop by the Park fire station at any time to visit our 9/11 memorial, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thank you for helping us remember, honor and reflect on the lives lost and the heroes that responded that day.

Congratulations to Jack Helmeci on his transition from junior firefighter to senior firefighter.

Jack has already demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the fire service. While still a Junior Firefighter, he successfully completed his Firefighter I Certification, which is an accomplishment that reflects his dedication, work ethic, and desire to serve our community.

In addition to this milestone, Jack recently graduated from Seneca Valley High School and will be attending Robert Morris University this fall as he continues his education.

Jack represents the future of the fire service, and we are proud to have him as part of our organization. Congratulations on all you have accomplished, Jack.
