Media Release
UPDATE 06/06/2023

On 06/02/2023 the Bushnell Police Department responded to the 600 block of E. Osborne for a report of an unresponsive male. Officers arrived on scene to find Travis Purden (43) deceased.

An on-going investigation is being conducted by Illinois State Police Zone 4 Investigations Division and no information will be released at this time. Anyone with information should contact ISP Zone 4 at 217/782-4750.

We would like to thank the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police Zone 4 Investigations Division, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigations Unit, Macomb Police Department, McDonough County Coroner’s Office, and the McDonough County States Attorney’s Office for their assistance.

Suspects have been arrested. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This is still an active investigation and I don't consider this to be an active threat to Bushnell or the surrounding area.

The Bushnell Police Department is Proud to announce that we will now offer a Free Bicycle Registration to all residents. Simply bring your bicycle into the police department and an Officer will help you fill out a registration form with your contact information and information about your bike. Registering your bicycle can help us identify and recover it in the event that it is lost or stolen. Because so many bicycles look alike, identifying your bicycle with its serial number and using a quality bike lock is the best way to protect your property.

Ride Safely
Chief Ferguson
