Last evening crews from Bushkill Fire Co, Shawnee Fire Co, and Marshalls Creek participated in a rural water movement training exercise designed to establish a constant water supply while operating in areas without fire hydrants.

A draft site was established approximately 1.5 miles away at a static water source, with tankers and portable dump tanks utilized to supply fireground operations at the designated site.

During the exercise, crews successfully sustained approximately 1,100 GPM and moved an estimated 90,000 gallons of water.

At 01:01 on May 22, 2026, Station 24 and mutual aid companies were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Pocono Blvd in Lehman Township after a caller reported the laundry room exploded.

Crews arrived to find smoke showing from the residence and located a fire in the laundry room area. Fire was contained to the basement area.

• Milford Fire Department & EMS, Station 33(RIT)
• Delaware Township Volunteer Fire Company - Station 28(Tanker)

Over the past several weeks, multiple members of Bushkill Fire Company successfully completed Passenger Vehicle Rescue Awareness, Operations, and Technician level training, along with Rope Rescue Awareness, Operations, and Technician course.

Throughout the vehicle rescue class members trained in a variety of realistic rescue scenarios involving vehicle stabilization, patient disentanglement, scene management, and advanced extrication techniques utilizing hydraulic rescue tools, stabilization struts, cutting equipment, lifting operations, and other specialized rescue equipment.

Members also completed extensive rope rescue training, covering both high and low angle rescue operations, stokes basket packaging and movement, high line operations, basic tower rescue techniques, and rope system fundamentals.

On 05/17/2026 at 23:08 hours, Station 24 and Westfall Township Fire Department units were dispatched to the Bushkill boat launch, on the Delaware River, for a reported overdue kayaker who had not arrived at his designated pickup location.

Upon arrival, responding units were advised that the individual had been located in the area of the Smithfield boat launch, prompting crews to relocate operations to River Road.

24 boat launched from the Smithfield access and successfully located the male kayaker. The individual was safely brought to shore and transferred to EMS personnel on scene for evaluation and patient care.

During EMS Week, we proudly recognize and thank the dedicated EMS providers who continuously answer the call to serve our community with professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment.

We are especially grateful for the strong partnerships we share while working side by side with Lehman Pike Emergency Medical Services, Bushkill Emergency Corps, and the many surrounding emergency service agencies throughout our region. Together, through teamwork, trust, and collaboration, we are able to provide the highest level of care and emergency response to those who need it most.

Your dedication and countless hours of service never go unnoticed. Thank you for everything you do — not only during EMS Week, but every single day.

05/15/2026: Our members, along side Pennsylvania State Police Blooming Grove, Bushkill Emergency Corps and the Pike County Coroners Office, participated in a mock crash demonstration at the East Stroudsburg North High School.

This demonstration highlights the very real and devastating consequences of drinking and driving. We encourage everyone to make safe choices, look out for one another and always plan to get home safely.

For 90 years, Bushkill Fire Company has stood as a symbol of dedication, sacrifice, and service to our community.

On May 2nd, we proudly celebrated not only our history, but the members — past and present — whose commitment continues to shape the future of our company. From our volunteers to the families and supporters who stand beside us, this milestone would not be possible without each and every one of you.

As we reflect on the past nine decades, we remain committed to progressing forward, serving with pride, and continuing the tradition of excellence that defines The Bushkill Fire Company.
