***UPDATE Jennifer has Made contact with her family. She is safe ***

Today, December 16, 2025, at approximately 10:20 am the Burton Police responded to a call for a missing woman. The caller (husband) reported that his wife Jennifer McCrandall stopped communicating with him on Saturday December 13, 2025. The caller stated that Jennifer has a history of this, but usually comes back after a few days. Jennifer texted her husband minutes after she got out of work (in Fenton City) stating she is at a bar with another female. The caller believes Jennifer was in a bar in Fenton City. Jennifer’s car was located at Autumn Lounge in Burton. There is no information available at the time of the report that indicates how the car got there, who was driving it, or when the car was parked there. Autumn Lounge was closed at the time of the report, so surveillance footage could not be reviewed at that time. There is no evidence that concludes Jennifer was last seen in the City of Burton. Due to Jennifer living in Flint Township and unknown last whereabouts, Flint Township Police Department was contacted. Flint Township Police arrived on scene and worked with Burton Police to gather more information.

The Burton Police Department will assist Flint Township Police Department in locating Jennifer. There are no signs of foul play at this time. We request anyone that has information on the whereabouts of Jennifer to contact Crime Stoppers, Burton Police, or Flint Township Police.

The Burton Police Retail Fraud Task Force has another successful conviction. We have worked tirelessly to identify, apprehend, and charge shoplifters with the highest possible criminal charges. The partnership with the Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton has been phenomenal.

This Task Force could not be as successful without the dedication of Detective Sergeant F. Glasstetter. As the head of the Task Force, she orchestrates all operations and works with other departments to help them identify suspects.

I look forward to seeing what this program will do in the future.

***Tomorrow November 1st road closure***

The Veteran’s Honor Run will take place Saturday 11/1/2025. Roads will be closed starting at 11:00 am. See the attached letter for which roads will be closed. No traffic will be allowed no matter what. Every year we have people requesting to go through the closure to get to their destination. We can not allow that for the safety of those running the race. Please be patient. Find alternative routes. The road will be closed for approximately 1 and a half hours.

Thank you all for understanding and making this event safe and successful.

****Update on Meijer Bomb Threat****

On Saturday September 27, 2025 at approximately 8:35 PM the Burton Police Department was dispatched to Meijer for a bomb threat. Officers were able to evacuate the store. The Michigan State Bomb Team responded to the scene and searched the building with Burton Police officers. The Burton Police Department investigated the threat and identified two juveniles from Delta Township as the callers. Detectives made contact with the juveniles. The juveniles were in Flint Township visiting one of their mothers. The juveniles were bored and decided to make prank calls. There was not a credible threat to the store or the City of Burton.

The following day, it was found that the shooter of the church in Grand Blanc Township lived across the street from Meijer on Atherton Road. When the Burton Police Department was informed that the shooter also had explosive devises at the scene, we looked deeper into the Meijer incident. While we did not believe the two were related, we wanted to investigate any possible connection.

After an exhaustive investigation, we have found no connection between the Meijer incident and the shooter from Grand Blanc Township.

The Burton Police Department will be seeking charges for the juveniles for making the bomb threat.

There has been a lot of interest and misinformation spreading about racist propaganda that has been dropped around the city. Let us clarify what has taken place so far.

We have received several 911 calls regarding baggies with a piece of paper and an unknown substance. We have collected several of the baggies and have talked to several individuals that have found the baggies. We have also reviewed cameras in those areas.

We have videos of the vehicle. We are continuing to investigate to identify the person doing this.

We have not been able to identify the material inside the baggies, but are sending the baggies to a lab to identify the substance.

We do not need to collect more of the same baggy. If you come across a baggy, you can dispose of it. If you find a different baggy, you can contact 911 and we will come out and investigate it.

If you have any credible information on the individual dropping the baggies off, including video, please contact the Burton Police Department.

***Attention***

The Burton Police Department was dispatched to Bristol Rd Kroger for a kidnapping. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the suspect and victim. Officers were told that there was not a kidnapping. The female willfully got into the males vehicle and later decided she did not want to be with the male. She asked the male to stop at Kroger which he did. She walked away from the vehicle and waited for police.

The male was arrested for unrelated charges.

Thank you to everyone that shared this story. We are proud that the community gets involved and if this was a kidnapping, the community support would have helped tremendously.

A Facebook post was created this morning detailing a complaint about one of our Officers. The complainant accused an officer of armed robbery during a traffic stop. The complaint was very serious and Chief Brian Ross acted quickly to investigate. A full internal investigation was conducted as well as interviews with both complainants. The accusations made were completely false. We have wonderful professional officers at the Burton Police Department. Below is the body camera of the officer.
