Last night, a tornado touched down on Bishop Rd. in the 10,000 block, causing significant damage to several homes in our community. At this time, we are incredibly grateful to report that only minor injuries have been confirmed.

We ask that everyone please continue to steer clear of the area to allow emergency crews and utility workers the space they need to safely continue cleanup and restoration efforts.

In moments like this, you truly see what makes a community strong. Departments and agencies from all over came together without hesitation—working side by side through the night to help those in need. That kind of teamwork, dedication, and heart is something we are proud to be a part of.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Tri Township, Maple Grove, Spaulding, Bridgeport, Blumfield, and Hazelton Fire Departments, along with Twin Township Ambulance, Saginaw County Road Commission, Consumers Energy, and Saginaw County Central Dispatch as well as Saginaw County Coordination for their assistance and support.

⚠️ Safety Reminder:
Please stay far away from any downed power lines. Always assume they are live and extremely dangerous. Keep children and pets away, and report any hazards to 911 or your local utility provider immediately.

Our thoughts are with the families impacted. If there’s one thing situations like this remind us, it’s that even in the worst moments, we’re never facing it alone. This community shows up—and we will continue to stand together as recovery begins.

Stay safe, everyone. 💛

If you see Lt. Cody Zervan around, make sure to get an autograph ✍️😂

Lt.Hollywood was recently featured on Detroit 7 News during a live burn training in Detroit, where he was interviewed on scene. We’ll drop the link to the article below 👇

Big shoutout to all three of our Albee fire fighters for getting after it 🔥 If you want to be the best, you’ve gotta train with the best—and that’s exactly what this was. Real heat, real reps, real experience.

That being said… just because you make it on camera doesn’t mean you’re safe around here 😅

And yes, those flames were added later with a little Hollywood magic 🎬🔥

🚒 NEW RESPONSE POLICY UPDATE 🚒

Due to the increasing number of false alarms and rising fuel costs, the department will be implementing a new response protocol effective immediately.

We will no longer be responding to alarms until the emergency is large enough to be visible from the station before committing resources.

This initiative is part of our effort to conserve fuel, as you know fuel is expensive these days… and the only liquid a fire engine uses more of is water.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we work to improve efficiency.

🚒 Home Safety Reminder 🚒

We recently responded to a fire where crews found the front door blocked by a washing machine, making entry more difficult during an emergency.

We get it — space gets tight. Maybe it’s a computer desk for working from home, a pantry shelf for extra kitchen storage, or even a washer or dryer in a pinch. It happens.

But if a door looks like a main entrance to your home, that’s the door we’re most likely going to try first.

As tempting as it may be to use that space, please don’t block doorways — no matter how little they’re used. In an emergency, every second matters, and clear access can make all the difference.

This is just a friendly reminder to help keep everyone safe.

It is with heavy hearts that we recognize the passing of former Albee Township Fire Department member and past Assistant Fire Chief, Joseph “Joe” Dymora, Jr.

Joe served our department and community many years ago, holding a leadership role during his time with Albee Township. Though he was part of an earlier generation of firefighters, his dedication to service helped carry this department forward.

We are grateful for those who served before us and helped build the path we walk today.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Dymora family and all who knew and loved him.

Rest easy, sir. Thank you for your service. 🔥🚒

Early this morning at approximately 2:45 a.m., crews responded to a fire involving a 5th-wheel camper trailer. We’re thankful to report that all occupants were able to escape safely.

Calls like this remind us how important teamwork is. We want to sincerely thank Maple Grove Township Fire Department and Taymouth Township Fire Department for their quick response and assistance on scene. Mutual aid and cooperation are critical during overnight emergencies, and we truly appreciate the support.

We also want to remind residents within Albee Township that our department offers free smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms, and we are happy to install them at no cost. These devices save lives—especially during overnight hours when fires can go unnoticed.

If you or someone you know in Albee Township needs alarms installed, please reach out to schedule an installation.

Thank you to everyone involved for their dedication and service to our community.

🚨 Cold Weather Safety Reminder 🚨

With these cold temps settling in, many of us are pulling out space heaters. Please take a moment to use them safely to help prevent fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.

🔥 If your space heater has been in storage, make sure it’s clean and free of dust, lint, or debris before using it. Dust buildup can become a fire hazard once the heater warms up.

🔥 Do NOT plug space heaters into extension cords or power strips. Always plug them directly into a wall outlet to avoid overheating and electrical fires.

🔥 Only use space heaters that are designed with a tip-over safety shutoff. This feature automatically turns the heater off if it gets knocked over.

☠️ Carbon Monoxide (CO) Warning:
• Never use fuel-burning heaters (propane, kerosene, gas, or construction-type heaters) indoors or in enclosed spaces unless they are specifically rated for indoor use.
• Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless and can be deadly.
• Make sure your home has working CO detectors, especially near sleeping areas.
• Never run heaters, generators, or fuel-powered equipment inside homes, garages, or near open windows.

🔥 Keep all heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn (curtains, bedding, furniture) and never leave them running unattended.

🛎️ Need smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detectors?
Our fire department has smoke alarms and CO detectors available and can help with installation. Just reach out to us to get an installation scheduled.

Let’s all stay warm and safe. We want everyone home safe with their families. ❤️🚒

🚨 Community Safety Notice – Please Slow Down 🚨

We want to make residents aware that Spectrum crews are currently in Albee Township completing infrastructure updates. They are expected to be working in the area through Friday morning.

With road conditions this time of year being poor at times, we’re asking everyone to slow down, stay alert, and watch for work crews and vehicles along the roadway.

Late last night at 11:54 PM, our department responded to a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a Spectrum van. Thankfully, crews were able to respond quickly, but incidents like this are a reminder of how important it is to use extra caution—especially in work zones and low-visibility conditions.

Please remember—these workers are out there doing their jobs, and we all have families we want to make it home to. Slow down, give space, and help keep everyone safe.

Thank you for your cooperation and support. ❤️🚒

We want to extend a huge thank you to the Saginaw County Dive Team and Thomas Township Fire Department for hosting and providing the DRI Ice Rescue Technician Training.
This hands-on training gave our firefighters the opportunity to practice critical ice-rescue techniques, scene evaluation, and cold-water rescue operations in real conditions. These skills are not only challenging but essential for keeping our community safe during Michigan winters.
We’re grateful for the time, knowledge, and resources that went into making this training possible. Opportunities like this strengthen inter-department cooperation and ensure we’re prepared when seconds matter most.
Thank you to everyone involved for supporting first responders and investing in training that truly saves lives. We appreciate you all more than you know.

⚠️ Winter Driving Safety Reminder
We’re in our second snowfall of the season, and the roads are already getting slick. Albee Township Fire Department is asking everyone to please slow down, increase your following distance, and give yourself extra time if you have to be out today.

Before you head out, make sure your vehicle is winter-ready. A few important items to keep in your car:

Ice scraper and small shovel

Blanket and warm clothing

Flashlight and extra batteries

Jumper cables

Non-perishable snacks and bottled water

Sand or kitty litter for traction

Phone charger

Drive safely out there — your family (and ours) wants you home tonight. ❄️🚒
