Recently there has been some issues and questions about ATV use in Burrton. We would like to clear up some confusion.
All terrain vehicles and golf carts are legal to drive in the Burrton city limits. A valid drivers license is required. You must have headlights, brake lights, turn signals, mirrors, muffler, reflectors, and seat belts (if applicable).
Any unsafe use of these types of vehicles need to be reported by calling 911,so law enforcement can be made aware of the issue when it is occurring.

Update:

The emergency accident reporting plan has been lifted. Please report any motor vehicle accidents by contacting the Harvey County Communications center.

🚨EMERGENCY ACCIDENT REPORTING IMPLEMENTED🚨
The Burrton Police Department is implementing the emergency accident reporting plan due to weather and road conditions. The following accidents will be the only ones taken at this time:

1. Injury or fatality accidents
2. Accidents/incidents involving disabled vehicles in roadway
3. Accidents involving suspected impaired drivers.

All other accidents:
Individuals reporting accidents other than those listed previously will be advised to exchange driver insurance and vehicle information. Both drivers will be asked to come to the Burrton Police Department within 48 hours to file the accident report.
This will remain in affect until driving conditions are back to acceptable levels.

The City of Burrton has established dates and times for when fireworks can be discharged within the city limits.
Fireworks may be discharged on June 29th to July 3rd from 10 am to 9pm and on June 29 and July 4th, 5th from 10am to Midnight.

The KBI extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends of 30-year-old Deputy Brandon Gaede of the Phillips County Sheriff's Office. Deputy Gaede tragically lost his life last night serving his community.

May he rest in peace. His sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Winter storm number 2 is upon us. Road conditions are deteriorating rapidly. If you have to drive please use extreme caution. If you don't need to be out stay at home and stay warm.

Burrton city crews are hard at it clearing roads.  The roads will remain slick so please drive with caution.

Road conditions have improved in the Burrton area. The Burrton Police Department has ended the Emergency Accident Reporting Plan. Accidents will need to be reported as as normal
