Heritage Adult Day Retreat is located just west of Burnsville next to Yancey Center for Physical Therapy & Riverside Baptist Church near Jacks Creek on Hwy 19E. We offer low cost affordable q

uality day care for your loved one giving you the opportunity to take care of yourself & the things you need to do without worry. This adult day care has been certified by the Department of Health & Human Services to operate an adult day care/health center & we have done so successfully for the past 18 years. Our highly qualified staff provide not only loving care but also medical, if needed by our full time RN, in a comfortable & safe environment, plus we provide healthy lunches & snacks. We are VA approved & grants are available from Yancey County Committee on Aging. We would like to urge anyone who is caring for an adult loved one who has Dementia, Alzheimer's Disease, Intellectual or Development Disabilities to call or stop by the facility & talk with us about what we have to offer. We can also offer assistance for those who have just came out of physical rehabilitation after surgery who might not be able to stay at home just yet by themselves. References are available upon request. The Heritage Adult Day Retreat is open 7am to 5:30pm Monday thru Friday. You do not have to live in Yancey County.

As most already know sadly we Closed the doors this past Friday July 20th for the final time at Heritage Adult. This was something that was out of everyone's control as the center in the past has not been ran efficiently & it has caused a large financial burden. My heart is broken as I loved this place beyond words & put my heart & soul into helping it grow. I seen elderly people that couldn't remember hardly anything become the best of friends, I seen mentally handicap adults be so happy & excited to get to be there each day, I seen staff & volunteers hearts grow larger with each hug & I love you's from the clients, I seen family's that were beyond exhausted enjoying that daily break & few hours to themselves, I seen other families enjoy knowing their loved one was happy & safe as they worked to make a living & provide for themselves & their families.
I wish there was more we could have done as a community because this IS a Asset that is needed in our Community & has been there almost 20 years & ANY of us could be facing a family member or ourselves tomorrow needs this place. I know 1st hand life changes in the blink of an eye for anyone. Please pray for the Clients, Families & Staff of HADR as we try to move down lifes path with a new plan.
I feel Honored & Blessed to have been given the privilege to be the Director at HADR the last yr & a half. An my life has been more richly blessed & my heart much larger by this opportunity given to me.

I wanted to go ahead & inform aao ient's & client's family's before they hear things b throughout the community:
It's with a heavy heart that I must tell each of you that Friday July 6th began the 1st day of my 2 week notice to resign my position as Program Director for Heritage Adult Day Retreat.
I cannot even begin to put into words how much I have truly enjoyed taking care of the clients & becoming one big family there with each of you. However due to all the recent changes & not having full security of a job after Sept. 30th, I feel that it is in the best interest of myself & my family that I move forward now with preparing for my life changes now.
I want each of my client & their families, staff, volunteers & past staff to know that each one of you will ALWAYS have a BIG place in my HEART & I will ALWAYS look back on this time spent working at HADR as a HUGE Blessing in my life!
If I can ever be of any help to any of you please know I am only a phone call away. My heart is fuller & bigger because of each of YOU! I love you all dearly!

Beautiful Spring Weather & a Picnic Lunch with Friends down by the River! Time for lots of laughs, great talks, fishing, walking, playing ball & blowing bubbles. That's how we enjoyed our day in the Sunshine!

Last weeks beautiful Spring weather Spoiled us all! Friday we enjoyed a wonderful picnic with friends at our local Cane River Park. We also enjoyed some kick ball, feeding the fish, relaxing in the warm sun & great laughs with friends. Everyone here at HADR have became not only friends but family! We treasure each day we get to spend with this amazing group of people! They say we are only as old as we feel & I think our guys & gals don't feel a day over 25!
We are getting ready to enjoy some fun Spring Field trips as now that the Flu Bug has died down! Stop by anytime & visit us, come take a tour of our facility & meet the staff. We would love to help you by giving you a break from your loved ones & let us care for them while you do whatever it may be that you need too. etc enjoy lunch with a friend, work, clean house, take a walk, pay bills & do shopping, or just simply kick back & relax.
