The people of our community have elected me as the Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor (district 4), currently serving in my third term. I have supported providing technical assistance on cost share funding to install 92 conservation projects resulting in the removal of 143,500 tons of phosphorous, 1,079 tons of total suspended solids (sediment) and 13,729 lbs of nitrogen
from reaching our lakes, streams or groundwater resources annually. I have supported the monitoring water quality in 26 water bodies across 4 watersheds in Dakota County. The reason I am running is to work to improve the quality of life for Dakota County residents, and to represent their voice in our community. I will work to provide adequate funding and support for our public safety in our community. Dakota County Law Enforcement Officials save lives and improve the quality of life for Dakota County residents. I will work to properly fund improvements to our infrastructure. I will work to fund the County Road 50 lane expansion in Lakeville to improve the safety and traffic flow. I also will work to secure funding for the much needed bridge replacement on I-35. I will also work to improve residents' lives by holding the line on spending and keeping Dakota County as one of the lowest tax rates in Minnesota. I will protect our environment in Dakota County by supporting the land conservation program and work to reduce any higher than normal nitrate levels in the water. The major issues in Dakota County are health, housing, environmental, and an aging population. Mental health and substance use are on the rise in our community. The housing market is becoming more challenging for renter households with declining vacancy rates and the rising rents in Dakota County. Nitrates in water are a continuing environmental concern in some private wells in certain parts of Dakota County. Climate change is affecting our county with the less predictable rain and temperature events, and the increase in the level of greenhouse emissions is affecting our county with the less predictable rain and temperature events, and the increase in the level of greenhouse emissions is effecting our environment. The faster growing age group in Dakota County is 65 and older and is expected to grow twice as fast as the state's rate. We need a County Commissioner that is in touch with the needs in our community, and that can work to resolve these issues. I have been endorsed by:
Kevin Chamberlain (Chair) Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor (District 1)
Laura Zanmiller (Vice Chair) Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor (District 2)
Brian Raney Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor (District 3)
