Income Limits: Getting help with groceries in North Carolina?

If you’re applying for SNAP , here’s what you need to know about the current monthly income limits (pre-tax) through September 2026:

👥 Household Size / Monthly Income Limit:
● 1 Person: $2,610

● 2 People: $3,526

● 3 People: $4,442

● 4 People: $5,360

● 5 people: $6,276

● For each added family member: +$918

Eligibility is based on who you live and cook with! Remember, deductions for rent, utilities, and childcare can help you qualify even if you’re close to the limit. 🏠💡

REMINDER: Tomorrow at 10 AM, we will be conducting a class for any cut flower enthusiasts. Anyone interested in growing their own cut flowers at home can attend. Please notice the tragic change when coming into Harvest Share! We’ll be there tomorrow, rain or shine! I’m bringing a Napa cabbage and turnip slaw and an orzo garden salad for folks to sample! Both recipes use many of the produce items that will be available at the tables 🥬🫜😋

Harvest Share (our free, walk-up produce market) happens at West Burnsville Baptist Church every Wednesday from 10-12. Remember to please enter on Love Fox Rd rather than W Burnsville Church Rd.

See you tomorrow! Remember to bring your own bags if you're able, kitchen scraps for our community compost program, and a love of local fresh veggies! Everyone is welcome.

Stretching your SNAP benefits doesn’t have to be a struggle! 🛒

With a few smart moves, you can fill your cart with healthy, delicious meals without breaking the bank. Here are 3 quick tips for your next grocery run:

🍲Go for store brands: Skip the big names and reach for the "generic" or store-brand versions. They usually have the exact same ingredients but cost way less.

🫘Buy staples in bulk: Stock up on rice, dried beans, and oats. They are filling, shelf-stable and cost much less per serving than pre-packaged meals.

📱Download Store Apps: Clip digital coupons before you go and check the weekly circulars to plan your meals around what’s on sale.

Do you know when a product can be made at home and when a commercial kitchen is required? Are you familiar with North Carolina's food regulations, labeling requirements, and food safety expectations?

Join us for our Commercial Kitchen Safety & Orientation Class at Reconciliation House on Thursday, June 11, at 6:00 PM.

This FREE class is required for anyone planning to use the commercial kitchen and is open to anyone interested in learning more about producing food products for sale.

Topics include:

Public Health Notice from River Health District in Mitchell County, but could affect Yancey residents as well.

The Toe River Health District is actively investigating a foodborne illness outbreak in Mitchell County involving reported cases of Salmonella and Campylobacter. Public health officials are working closely with state partners and the restaurant involved to identify the source, protect public health, and prevent additional illnesses.
