The NCWorks Career Centers help job seekers and employers with a variety of services: Job search, scholarships for training, paid internships, workshops, local job growth/availability, resume writing, and overall career planning. Businesses receive free job listing, applicant recruitment/screening, information on tax credits, and funding to subsidize training a new hire and upgrade skills of current employees. All services are at no cost to you!

CTE Student of the Month goes to Mr. Elijah Hughes! 🎉

The Mitchell County Chamber and Economic Development Commission are proud to recognize Eli Hughes as our first CTE Student of the Month for the school year!

Eli has completed CTE pathways in Automotive, Welding, and Food & Nutrition, while also exploring Drafting and Horticulture. He is currently completing a paid CTE Internship made possible through the NCWorks Career Center at the Mitchell County School Bus Garage. Through this opportunity, he is gaining valuable hands-on experience in diesel mechanics and preparing for a future career in the field.

Some of his teachers describe him as hardworking, dependable, respectful, and always eager to learn. His wide range of skills combined with his strong character make him a great example of the talent being developed right here in Mitchell County.

Congratulations, Eli! We’re excited to see where your skills and determination take you!
