Yancey County Transportation Authority Providing all transportation services for the citizens of Yancey County North Carolina. Please call our office for additional information.

We offer a wide variety of transportation services to the citizens of, and general public within, Yancey County, NC. Including: shuttle services for area hiking trails and the Asheville airport, disability transportation, services to doctors appointments (in and out of County), grocery and retail stores, work, etc. Public services are generally performed at little to no cost, as we receive funding

from Federal, State, and Local governments, as well as, income from contracting agencies. We operate during the hours listed, but services on Saturday and Sunday are available.

Residents in Western North Carolina Can Apply for Help Buying Food Following Hurricane Helene

PRESS RELEASE — Residents in 25 western counties and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians impacted by Hurricane Helene can apply for help buying food through the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) which will begin on Oct. 18, 2024, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services announced today. D-SNAP is open to individuals and households not currently receiving Food and Nutrition Services benefits who were impacted by Hurricane Helene. NCDHHS estimates more than 150,000 people will apply for up to $120 million in D-SNAP benefits.
