City Council – Filling and Vacancies

The Burns City Council has an opening for a city council member. Please submit a letter of interest to the City of Burns by 6/24/2026. Applicants will be expected to be present at the City Council meeting on 6/24/2026 to present themselves. The City Council meeting begins at 6:00 pm at Burns City Hall. Thank you for your interest.

Burns Charter Section 4.9 Vacancies/Filling
A vacancy in the Council shall be filled by appointment of the Council. The appointee’s term of office runs from the time of qualifying for the office after the appointment and until expiration of the term of the predecessor who has left the office vacant.

Section 6.1 Qualifications
Applicants shall be legally registered voters.
Applicants shall be 21 years of age and shall have resided in the city during the 12 months immediately before being elected or appointed to the office.

Section 6.3 Oath
Before assuming City Office, an oath shall be taken to faithfully perform the duties of the office and support the Constitution and Laws of the United States and of the State of Oregon.

PUBLIC NOTICE: There is a water main break on the South East portion of Burns from about S. Date to S. Gordonia and from Crane Blvd. to E. Van Buren. Please be patient and careful while driving around those areas as the crews are working diligently to fix the issue.
