With high temperatures expected over the next several days, we encourage residents to take precautions and stay safe during the heat.

The Town Complex will be open as a Cooling Center for anyone needing relief from the heat during normal operating hours. Residents are welcome to stop in, cool down, hydrate, and take a break from the extreme temperatures.

VFW 2511 and Porter Park Department to host Memorial Day observation at Hawthorne Park on Monday May 25

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2511 and the Porter Park Department are cordially inviting the community to their annual Memorial Day ceremony.

That ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 25, in front of the Community Building in Hawthorne Park, 500 Ackerman Drive.

Porter Park Department to host Memorial Day observation at Hawthorne Park on Monday May 25

The Porter Park Department is cordially inviting the community to its annual Memorial Day ceremony.

That ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 25, in front of the Community Building in Hawthorne Park, 500 Ackerman Drive.

The program will feature wreath presentations, readings, and reflections as well as music performed by select members of the CHS band program. Representatives of the towns of Burns Harbor, Chesterton, and Porter will also be in attendance.

The program will be held outdoors but will be moved inside the Community Building in the event of inclement weather.
