At the recent Dolton 149 Board of Education meeting, District Oratory Winner Tavon Kyles was honored; Calumet City essay contest winners were honored: Dorille Clark, Janae Haymon, Allysha Joseph-Art, Ca’Mya Pittman, Sahri Smith, and Jeremiah Thomas; students with perfect PACT reading test scores were recognized: Andres Dolores and Jordan Wilkes; and Venture Program students Chrisette Bell and Tytiana Wilson presented their success stories. Lots of impressive accomplishments and progress by our students!

The Dolton 149 Board of Education at its recent meeting received a positive report on the work upgrading classrooms and other areas of our elementary school, Berger-Vandenberger. The district will have more news on the restoration project in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

Breakfast with Santa was a great success! Hundreds of families attended. Every child got a toy, played games, had arts and crafts time, face painting, breakfast, popcorn, and photos with Santa and Mrs Claus. A wonderful holiday celebration at Dolton 149!

New state math and reading test scores showing historically strong student growth were announced at the November 20 Board of Education regular meeting. Great job to our learners and teachers! We are proud of you.

Last night at the Dolton 149 Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Maureen White reported that students’ state reading and math proficiency scores increased significantly since 2022. Good job teachers and students! We’re proud of you!

Dolton 149 Board of Education approved on Monday, September 30, the district’s 2024-2025 school budget, which continues to make new investments in student achievement, including reading, math, and vocational education.

The Dolton 149 Board of Education’s first regular monthly meeting on August 22 officially kicked off the new school year. Welcome back to returning students and welcome to our new students!

Thank you to all the Dolton 149 parents, students, teachers, and staff who attended our Town Hall on Wednesday evening to learn about the renovations to Berger-Vandenberg, Diekman, Caroline Subley schools over the next two years. Our students deserve the best - and that is what they going to get: the best.

Dolton School District 149 will hold a town hall meeting to discuss its plan for renovating three schools in the district (Berger-Vandenberg, Diekman and Caroline Sibley), as well as integrating their 6th graders into the middle school. The town hall will be held at the Middle School, located at 1650 Pulaski Rd., Calumet City, on Wednesday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m.

Dolton 149 STEM Academy and Thornwood High School graduate Ataysia Self received a $500 “Doug Terandy” college scholarship from the Classroom Teachers Union during the recent Dolton 149 Board of Education meeting. The scholarship was established by the family of Doug Terandy, a former, beloved Dolton 149 teacher. Congratulations Ataysia!

Good news: We’re halfway through the school year and 57% of Dolton 149 students have already achieved growth in math and 74% have achieved growth in reading. Our students our doing a great job!
