Today we pause in remembrance of what occurred on 9/11.
We honor those who had the courage to run straight into the danger to save others without hesitation. We honor the unity and determination of everyone working day after day to try to bring home as many people as possible. We honor the search dogs and their handlers for working days on end trying to find those still trapped under the rubble. We also honor those who worked to clear the debris, unknowingly being exposed to toxins.
Those who did survive, went home with forever scars. They will never be able to forget what they saw firsthand, or even the sounds and smells and they experienced.
Over the past 25 years, survivors and workers are also dealing with the medical issues that came from the exposures of toxic debris. Having to relive one of the worst days of their lives at every appointment or check up or change in symptom.
Today we feel the heaviness of what happened on 9/11 and pray for peace in the minds of those who lived through it.

A big thank you to the National Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder Training Program and the Federal Highway Administration for delivering such valuable training today! We also extend a huge thank you to East Lake Buchanan VFD for hosting the event.
Thank you to the dedicated first responders from East Lake Buchanan VFD, Cassie VFD, and Bertram Fire Department who took time out of their Friday to attend. Continuous training like this ensures greater safety for our responders working on the scene and enhances safety across our entire community! 🚒🚨

Thank you to all the departments that helped on the RPR fire. Luckily staff had dozers on site making fire breaks to slow it down so we were able to make relatively quick work of this one. Dry and windy conditions through thick brush are not our friends.
Don’t let this little bit of rain tonight fool you either, it will all be dried out again quickly. Be mindful of anything that can create sparks or embers.

Cassie helped out on the Baker Fire today alongside our partners in the county. Everyone was putting in the hard work on this one and our Cassie crews made it home around midnight. Good job out there guys!

Cassie helped out on the Reveille peak fire today with our mutual aid partners coming in clutch as usual with great teamwork. Thanks to EAST LAKE Buchanan VFD, Burnet VFD, City of Burnet Fire Department, Hoover Valley Volunteer Fire And Emergency Services Inc., Bertram Volunteer Fire Dept. (Apologies if I left anyone out). Fortunately there were dozers on site and rolling and were able to make fire breaks as we all worked together to knock down this accidental fire. Big thanks to the staff at Reveille Peak Ranch for all the help and coordination of dozers and providing water to everyone out there

Cassie VFD helped out on the Saxton fire in Bertram today along with numerous agencies from multiple counties including aerial support from Austin. It’s estimated around 300 acres burned across multiple properties, threatening many homes and innocent livestock. We cannot stress enough to follow the rules of the burn ban. No outdoor burning means no outdoor burning. This includes your backyard fire pits and barrels.
We want to extend a big thank you to The Ark of Highland Lakes for coming out and providing responders with much needed hydration and food
