PRESS RELEASE

Burnet County Park Boat Dock to Be Replaced
The existing boat dock at the Burnet County Park has been dismantled due to damage and safety concerns. This project is part of the County’s ongoing efforts to maintain safe and accessible recreational facilities for residents and visitors.

Installation of a new boat dock and ramp is scheduled to begin Monday, September 7, with construction anticipated to take approximately three weeks, weather and site conditions permitting.

During the construction period, the boat ramp will be closed Monday through Friday, but will remain open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays. Visitors are encouraged to use caution in the area and follow any posted signage or directions from construction personnel.

The new dock and ramp will provide a safer, updated facility for those enjoying the lake and recreational opportunities in Burnet County.

Burnet County appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this important improvement project is completed and looks forward to providing an improved boating access point for the community and visitors.

Burnet County’s next Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event is coming up on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM.

This event is for residential items only—no industrial, commercial, or business waste.

Residents may bring a variety of household items, including used motor oil and filters, batteries, electronics, paints, antifreeze, household chemicals, pool and lawn chemicals, and more. Please review the attached flyer for the complete list of accepted and prohibited items.

♻️ Please remember: Bring products in their original containers, do not mix or consolidate products, and make sure containers are properly sealed to prevent leaks.

Statement for Saxon Fire Update from Edward Hashbarger, Burnet County's new Emergency Management Coordinator:

As of this morning, the fire is estimated to have burned approximately 300 acres and is 70% contained.

Crews are continuing to mop up the area and assist residents at this time.

Yesterday, a Reverse 911 notification was issued at 3:17p.m. to 325 individuals located within a one-mile radius of the fire, advising them to evacuate. A cooling center was established for residents at the Bertram Community Center.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., another Reverse 911 notification was issued to inform residents that they could return to their residences. Residents were also advised to contact 911 dispatch with any questions or concerns.

At this time, the cause of the fire has been determined to be open debris burning.

Burnet County implemented a burn ban effective July 28, and the burn ban has remained in effect since that date.

🚧 Great Turnout for Our First Transportation Public Input Meeting! 🚧

Thank you to everyone who came out for our first Burnet County Transportation Plan Public Input Meeting! We had an estimated 40–50 residents and community stakeholders attend, including city and county officials, as well as representatives from CAPCOG, CAMPO, and TxDOT.

The input and feedback from our community are an important part of developing a transportation plan that reflects the needs of Burnet County and its residents. We appreciate everyone who took the time to participate and share their thoughts!
