In 1986 the Emergency Planning and Community Right To Know Act (EPCRA) was created to assist communities in planning for chemical emergencies. State and local governments are required to prepare and protect their communities from chemical hazard risks. Industries are required to report to the Local Emergency Planning Committee on the storage, use, and release of hazardous substances. Local Emergen

cy Planning Committee’s (LEPCs) are required under the EPCRA to develop and review response plans and provide information about chemicals within the community to citizens. Tier II Reporting Requirement – Kentucky
Tier II reporting in Kentucky is mandatory for facilities that store hazardous chemicals above established threshold levels. This reporting supports emergency planning, responder safety, and community right-to-know requirements.
Facilities must submit their Tier II report annually by March 1 for chemicals present during the previous calendar year using the Hazconnect® Tier II Reporting System.

Failure to file by the deadline will result in a $250 late-filing penalty per facility.

o 500 pounds or the Threshold Planning Quantity (TPQ), whichever is less

• Kentucky Emergency Response Commission (KERC)
• Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)
• Local fire department

• Maximum and average quantities
• Storage locations and conditions

🔋 Today wrapped up our series of Lithium-Ion Battery training courses!
Over the past month, we’ve trained 118 first responders through:
✅ 2 BatteryIQ Technician Courses
✅ 1 EV Response Hands-On Training
✅ 1 Patrol & Corrections Response Course
These courses gave responders real-world, hands-on skills to handle lithium-ion battery incidents — from small fires involving phones or e-scooters to large-scale emergencies like EV battery failures.
Campbell County OEM is proud to support our first responders with the tools and training they need to keep our community safe. 💪

Emergency Preparedness in Action!

Campbell County Office of Emergency Management is hosting a Full-Scale Flood Response Exercise on Saturday, May 17 from 10AM–Noon at Campbell Fire /Rescue Station 12 at 1050 Race Track Rd, Alexandria KY.

Scenario: A major flood has hit our area, and we’re setting up a Point of Distribution (POD).
First 200 cars will receive a preparedness bag — 1 bag per vehicle — packed with about $35 worth of emergency items!
In partnership with Northern Kentucky Health Department & Northern Kentucky Healthcare Coalition.
Location: Campbell Fire /Rescue Station 12 at 1050 Race Track Rd, Alexandria KY.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Campbell County and surrounding regions, in effect from 4 PM today until 4 AM EST Friday. Residents are urged to prepare for snowfall and hazardous travel conditions.

What to Expect:

Snowfall: Total accumulations up to two inches.
Timing: Snow is expected to begin late this afternoon, continuing into the evening and early morning hours.
Impacts: Slippery roads and reduced visibility may affect the Thursday evening commute and overnight travel.
Precautionary and Preparedness Actions:
Campbell County residents are encouraged to take the following precautions:

Travel Safely: Slow down and use caution when driving. Allow extra time to reach your destination.
Stay Informed:
For Kentucky road conditions, visit GoKY.ky.gov.
For neighboring areas, check ohgo.com (Ohio) and 511in.org (Indiana).
Emergency Preparedness: Ensure your vehicle is equipped with an emergency kit, including blankets, water, flashlight, and a fully charged phone.
Campbell County Emergency Management Preparedness:
The Campbell County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is monitoring conditions closely and coordinating with local agencies to ensure public safety. The Campbell County Alerts notification system will be activated as necessary to keep residents informed of any significant changes or additional warnings.
