We are so grateful to our community, families, staff, supporters, and elected officials who joined us for our 70th Anniversary and DSP Recognition Week celebration! 🧡💛

We also had the honor of recognizing our amazing Direct Support Professionals with Arc Star Awards for their dedication and the difference they make every day! ⭐

A special thank you to Assemblyman Singh and Cameron for joining us and presenting a Joint Legislative Resolution from the New Jersey State Senate and General Assembly recognizing 70 years of service to our community.

We’d also like to thank Celine R. Fortin, Executive Director of The Arc of New Jersey, for celebrating this special milestone with us!

Getting a job is one of the biggest barriers people with disabilities face. Only 38% of people with disabilities are employed, compared to almost three out of four people without disabilities. For far too many, that gap is about opportunity. Labor Day is about honoring workers. So, let’s commit to hiring people with disabilities, paying fair wages, and building inclusive workplaces where everyone belongs.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) workforce is facing a serious crisis. Each year, about 41% of DSPs leave their jobs, most often because they are severely underpaid for the critical work they do, making it harder for people with disabilities to find and keep the consistent support they need.

DSPs help people with disabilities with things many of us take for granted—everyday tasks like getting dressed, taking medication, preparing meals, and so much more. We are asking Congress to take a big first step in solving this crisis by passing the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act.
