Country ham wash day went well this year. The last country ham wash in preparation for the Boone County Fair will be Wednesday June 17 at 5 PM. County fair is just a month away, so be sure to check out the winning hams on display in Cloverville (located in the Lute's Floral Hall).

Youth across Kentucky have been invited to participate in this year’s creative art contest. Young artists are encouraged to think creatively about how agriculture shows up in their daily lives and communities, then draw and color in their provided county outline. Each county Extension office will select one winning entry to be featured in a special display at the 2026 Kentucky State Fair.

How to participate:

Create your artwork. Fill your county outline (see link below) with drawings that show how agriculture is present in your community. Use color, creativity and imagination to bring your county to life.
Submit your entry. Return completed artwork by dropping off your completed coloring sheet at the Boone County Extension Office, or scanning and emailing it to [email protected]. Submit your entry by 4:30 PM on May 22, 2026.

We can’t wait to see how you showcase that agriculture is everywhere!

Ever wondered what our 4-H staff and your youth are doing in the classroom? This year, 3 Kentucky Cooperative Extension staff joined Miss Davis' class to teach the students all about microgreens, dissecting seeds and making corn plastic.

Congratulations to Miss Davis and all of her amazing students - this year they have won "Kentucky Junior Level School of the Year" for their outstanding energy education signature project submission: Knowledge is Power. Our 4-H staff are thrilled to have played a small role in their success.

We are looking for adult volunteers for the Kentucky 4-H State Communications Day on Saturday, July 11, from 8:30 AM - 4 PM, at the BCTC Newtown Campus in Lexington.

This event brings together youth from across the state to showcase their skills in public speaking, demonstrations, and mock interviews.

Volunteers are needed to serve as judges and room hosts. Your time and expertise play an important role in creating a positive and meaningful experience for our young people and we hope you can join us!
