Safety Saturday!!

πŸ”πŸ”₯ Cookout Safely, Burlington Township!πŸŒπŸš’

Summer is prime time for backyard barbecues, but did you know that July is the peak month for grill fires? Before you fire up the grates this weekend, Sparky the Fire Dog and the Burlington Township Fire Department want to make sure fire safety is at the top of your menu!

A safe grill today means everyone goes home tomorrow. Keep your family, pets, and home safe by following these essential grilling tips and remember: when in doubt, put it out! If you experience a grill fire, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Tonight members from all three Township Fire Stations attended the Fire and EMS Annual Memorial Service at the Emergency Services Training Center. This service is beyond meaningful in remembering those members who have passed on for not only their loved ones and families and friends but for the current members of The Fire Service, Emergency Medical Servcies and our brothers and sister in the Law Enforcement Community.

The message is clear, especially as we approach 25 years after The September 11th Attacks...

We will never forget. We owe it to all those lost and their families to continue to answer calls for help, no matter how big or small.

Stay safe everyone.

It has been a busy week for the fire department !

Last week - crews saw a return of our weekly duty crew drills!! (The beginning of the year is always dedicated to completing our annual educations on our online plaform!)

Last week the duty crew drill was based on and around ladders! Crews reviewed how to set them up, placement for task specific orders (ventilation vs search and rescue), how to perform a leg lock, and ascending and descending with full PPE and a tool.

We were a little limited with the snow and ice still around but still completed the drills as we will encounter snow and ice out in the community.

Crews responded to the American Custom Drying Fire later in the week and new Tower Ladder 3035 was put into service with its aerial master stream for the first time.

Friday night, the Township held it's annual FireFighter Appreication and Awards Dinner. This year, your Station 303 Volunteers were awarded with the following :

Top Responder : Craig Leshner Sr.
Public Education : David Counard
Firefighter of the Year : Captain John Filippine Jr.

We would like to thank all members of the department for their service with firematic and behind the scenes! Congrats to all the volunteers and career staff that were recognized!! We really do have an amazing department that works cohesively to protect and serve the town when called upon!

If you are interested in joining, please stop by on a tuesday night at 6p. We would be happy to speak with you and show you around !!

Stay safe!!
