A huge THANK YOU to the Racine Zoo for visiting our BASD Spark Squad students today! 🦔🦂🐍🦎

Students had an amazing hands-on learning experience meeting some incredible animal ambassadors, including a scorpion, snake, hedgehog, and bearded dragon. The visit provided a fun and engaging opportunity to learn about wildlife, animal habitats, and conservation.

We appreciate the Racine Zoo team for sharing their knowledge and helping create such a memorable experience for our students. Thank you for making today so special!

Today at Spark Squad, our high school student leaders created an exciting experience for our younger students by leading a fun drumming activity where everyone worked together to keep the beat. 🥁🎶
It was wonderful to see students focused, engaged, and developing their rhythm skills while having fun and encouraging one another along the way.
A special thank you to our high school leaders for creating opportunities for students to learn from each other, build confidence, and form meaningful connections. We are proud of the leadership, creativity, and positive example they bring to Spark Squad everyday!

The first week of Spark Squad is off to a fantastic start! 🌟

Each day, students participate in both AM and PM Spark Sessions, where they get to choose from a variety of activities based on their interests. With 5–7 options available each session, students can explore everything from walks to Waller Playground, arts and crafts, outdoor games, music classes, yoga, and more!

🧘‍♀️ Check out these photos from our Yoga & Meditation sessions, where students practiced mindfulness, movement, and relaxation.

Today was especially exciting as Spark Squad students took part in a Sorting Ceremony and were assigned to their summer teams: 🌪️ Cyclone, 🌊 Tide, ⚡ Volt, and 🔥 Blaze!

To kick off team competition season, students participated in the Gordon Ramsay Food Challenge. Incoming 5th and 6th graders answered trivia questions to earn ingredients for their team's mystery "dessert." Teams then worked together to create their culinary masterpieces while Spark Squad teachers served as judges.

Why the quotation marks around “dessert”? 🤔 Because the mystery ingredients included items like chicken noodle soup and hot dogs in chili sauce!
