Please welcome our newest Conservation Interns: Fiona Southers and Maxwell Holt!

Fiona and Maxwell have already proven to be valuable members of our team this summer, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge from their college degrees and previous work with other conservation organizations.

This summer they will be conducting their own independent research projects, teaching conservation education at our youth programs, managing habitat at the Center for Conservation, and getting more involved in local conservation with our partner agencies.
You can learn more about them and what their first couple of weeks have been like by reading their blog posts on our intern webpage: bccdky.org/conservation-intern

Congratulations to Jack Wooten, who has been interning with us for the past 5 months, on his graduation from Cooper High School! Jack has been a very valuable member of our team and played a huge role in the management of our Center for Conservation during his time with us.

One of his most notable projects was the design and construction a covered garden where our Forest Health Specialist, James, will grow trees to be planted around the property.

Fun fact about Jack: he was a Conservation Kids Camper back in 2018! And now, he is getting ready to start a full time job with , a natural resource management company.

Please join us in congratulating Jack on a job well done and wishing him luck in the next steps of his career!

Pictured here is Jack posing with an opossum skull - one of Jack’s favorite discoveries from the Center this Spring 😁
