As we begin Hurricane Preparedness Week 2026, be sure to know and understand your risk. Although Alamance County is inland from coastal communities, we are not immune to hurricane impacts. Excessive rainfall leading to flash flooding and damaging winds are two hazards we may experience.

Take time now to make a plan, build a disaster kit, and create a family communication plan before hurricane season begins. Also do a thorough check on you home insurance policy!

Please take time to like, and share to help us get the word out to the community.

The first step of preparing for hurricanes is to know your risk. As recent storms like Helene have taught us, hurricanes are NOT just a coastal problem. As we kick off Hurricane Awareness Week 2026, now is a good time to think about the tropical hazards that could happen where YOU live.
