Today, we’re celebrating the incredible wildlife we’re fortunate to see throughout Boone County Parks! 🌳

From deer and foxes to hawks, birds, turtles, rabbits, butterflies, and other native wildlife, our parks provide important habitats where these animals can live, feed, and thrive. 🦌

As we enjoy our parks and trails, let’s do our part to protect the natural spaces wildlife depend on. Always stay on designated trails, keep our parks clean, and observe animals from a respectful distance. 🐦

For the 2026 Disc Golf Pro Tour, England Idlewild Park will once again host the LWS Open at Idlewild from September 4-6, bringing top-level disc golf action to one of the sport’s most challenging courses. Known for its dramatic elevation changes, unforgiving rough, and winding creek, Idlewild puts skill, strategy, and precision to the test. 🥏

Please plan on giving yourself extra time if you're heading to Central Park this weekend! Road crews will be paving the new roundabout at Camp Ernst and Longbranch on Saturday, weather permitting. Expect delays and lane closures. As always, please slow down and be alert when driving through active work zones.

UPDATE: Work planned for this Saturday, Aug. 29 has been rescheduled. The new date will be shared as soon as possible.

Heads up, Boone County! Crews will be out this weekend working on the roundabout at Camp Ernst Road and Longbranch Road.

Lane closures will be in place while work is underway. If you're traveling through the area, expect delays, slow down and watch out for our crews.
