Effective immediately, the Village of Rochester has lifted the current burn ban.
Please remember that all outdoor burning must comply with Village Ordinances Code 3-11 regarding Outdoor and Refuse Burning. Link: https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/rochesterwi/latest/rochester_wi/0-0-0-432
Pay special attention to 3-11(G)11, which states:
βOpen burning shall be constantly attended and supervised by a competent person of at least 18 years of age until the fire is extinguished and is cold. The person shall have readily available for use such fire extinguishing equipment as may be necessary for the total control of the fire.β
Courtesy notification: To avoid an unnecessary fire department response, please call Racine County Dispatch before you burn: (262) 886-2300.
Basic safety reminders:
Attend the fire at all times until it is fully out and cold.
Keep a water source, extinguisher, or tools ready for immediate use.
Burn only when weather conditions are safe and permitted.
Fully extinguish the fire and confirm it is cold to the touch.
