City of Burlington, WI

City of Burlington, WI The City of Burlington's Official Page The City of Burlington was settled in 1835 by Moses Smith and William Whiting. You may never want to leave.

Located on the White and Fox rivers, the city offers the best of all seasons. Our family-oriented neighborhoods offer small-town charm and a safe environment for your children to grow. Positioned near quality schools, parks, and medical facilities, Burlington is a great place to relocate at any age. Situated between Milwaukee and Chicago, the city is centrally located with effective transportation

provided by four major highways. From the many "mom and pop" retail and service businesses that occupy Burlington's historic downtown, there is a wide diversity of commercial operations, outlying shopping centers and big box stores. The enhancement of the riverfront, improved traffic flow, a newly built parking structure downtown, local art fairs, weekly farmers market, sidewalk celebrations, festivals, live music and a historic downtown business district will make shopping and doing business in Burlington both inviting and personal. If you’re looking for a safe, peaceful community in which to settle and perhaps raise a family - or enjoy the one you already have, come for a visit, where people consider themselves lucky to be part of a truly unique unicorn of a community. If you’re considering where to locate a business in the center of the nation’s hard-working breadbasket, come for a visit. You will see why Burlington is exactly the kind of community to which the workforce of the future will be attracted - and remain. Welcome home to Burlington, Wisconsin!

Burlington Backyard Bash – Opening Night Cancellation Notice

A message from Chairwoman Green.

June 11, 2026

On behalf of the Burlington Backyard Bash, we regret to announce that tonight’s scheduled opening activities have been canceled due to severe weather and unforeseen weather conditions affecting the area.

After carefully monitoring weather forecasts throughout the day, it has become clear that the anticipated storms present a significant safety concern for our guests, vendors, entertainers, volunteers, and staff. Current forecasts indicate the potential for severe weather during much of the event window, with the highest risk expected between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM. While we were hopeful to proceed with tonight’s festivities, the safety and well-being of everyone involved must remain our highest priority.

We understand the disappointment this announcement may bring and sincerely appreciate the excitement and support the community has shown for the Burlington Backyard Bash. This decision was made only after careful consideration of the forecast and the potential risks associated with hosting an outdoor event under these conditions.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back as conditions allow and encourage attendees to continue following our official social media platforms for updates regarding the remainder of the event schedule and future announcements.

Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support.

Sincerely,

Latasha Green
Chairwoman
