PROJECT UPDATE 🚧

The planned transmission line removal project on I-275 near the Kentucky/Indiana border has been delayed due to recent heavy rain. The overnight lane closures originally expected this week are now planned for mid-July.

🚧 Overnight Road Closure Alert: I-275 🚧
Drivers should plan for temporary overnight road closures on I-275 near the Kentucky/Indiana border beginning Thursday night, May 28, into Friday morning, May 29, from midnight to 5 am.

Crews working on the Miami Fort to Clifty Creek Line Removal Project will stop traffic five times overnight while overhead wires are removed. Each closure is expected to last about 15 minutes.

Here’s what drivers should know:
• Traffic will fully stop during each wire removal
• Delays will be temporary
• Work may move to another night if weather or other issues cause delays

If you’ll be traveling through the area overnight, consider allowing extra time or using a different route. Thank you for your patience as this work is completed safely.

Heavy rain is expected across Boone County today. If you encounter water on the road, remember: Turn around, don’t drown!

Flood waters can rise quickly and become dangerous before you realize it. Make sure to keep these safety tips in mind:
-Never drive around barricades or through closed roads. They’re there for your safety.
-Slow down and stay alert, especially at night when flooding is harder to see.
-Avoid walking through floodwater. Just 6 inches of moving water can knock an adult off their feet.
-Never drive through standing water. Even shallow water can cause a vehicle to lose traction or stall.
-Leave extra travel time and use caution during heavy rain.
