It’s that time of year to submit your June 2026 VA Summary of Benefits letter to the Assessors’ Office if you qualify for the VA Disability Property Tax Abatement.

Our office can not obtain these letters for you.

⚠️ The Assessors’ Office will ONLY accept a VA Summary of Benefits letter that is dated June 2026.

IMPORTANT: When requesting a replacement letter, you must specifically request a copy of your June 2026 Summary of Benefits letter. If you simply request a new Summary of Benefits letter, the VA may issue you a new letter dated the day you make the request.

How to Get Your VA Summary of Benefits Letter

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) no longer automatically mails the annual Summary of Benefits letter to all veterans. Some veterans may still receive a copy in June; however, this does not apply to everyone with a VA disability rating.

If you need a copy, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Call the VA Benefits Hotline

📞 800-827-1000

🕒 Monday–Friday

8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. (EST)

Step 2: Request a Reprint

Tell the representative:

“I would like a copy of my Summary of Benefits letter from June of [YEAR]. I misplaced it and do not have access to a computer.”

***You must emphasize that this letter must be the annual summary of benefits later dated from June of the current year (2026).

If you do not specify this they will send you a new letter dated the day you called, and the assessors office will not accept that***

The VA representative will:

Verify your personal information

Confirm whether a Summary of Benefits letter was issued in June of the requested year

Then they will Mail the letter to you.

The Massachusetts National Guard Joint Force Headquarters will conduct a change of command ceremony for the Joint Force Land Component Commander at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9.

Following the ceremony, Guard officials will fire a volley of Howitzers as a ceremonial salute. The artillery fire will produce a significant noise that may be heard on and around Hanscom AFB.
