⚓️Rob Peterson is Burlington’s Marina Manager and Deputy Harbor Master, managing over 180 dock slips and 75 moorings along with day-to-day operations, contracts, and whatever else comes his way. In this interview we talk about his work to increase accessibility to Lake Champlain, unexpected boat rescues, and the past and future of the Boathouse. In Rob’s words, “we’re one of the only marinas in the country that's fully public, with accessible docks.”

A seasonal job in 1997 led Rob to where he is today. “Working [at the Boathouse] is a lot of fun. There are days that are long and the heat gets to you...but on the best days you're docking boats and everything's humming along. There’s a great staff culture here, and it shows in the retention rate that we have,” he says.

🌳🌳Today, the Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront (BPRW) Trees Team, led by City Arborist, VJ Comai, removed a large, dead Linden tree from North Willard St. which was posing a hazard. Thank you so much to the team for keeping Burlington’s trees healthy and safe! In addition to removing dead or hazardous trees and limbs, the team is constantly busy planting new trees throughout the city to keep our urban canopy growing and full!

🌱🫶Come help clear phragmites at North Beach! This tall grass is non-native to this part of the US and highly invasive in wetland areas. Help us restore the ecology of the area on Monday, September 14. Drop in anytime from 3 to 6 PM to lend a hand.
