Coffey County ECKAN The East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corporation (ECKAN), a community action agency, has been in existence since 1966 serving low-income persons.

ECKAN strives to reduce the causes and conditions of poverty and to empower low-income families to become self-sufficient. ECKAN is part of a national network more than 1,100 agencies community action agencies that create, coordinate and deliver programs and services to low-income Americans in 96 percent of the nation's counties. This network is able to mobilize additional resources to combat the central causes of poverty.
