Celebrating Our 4‑H Teen Leadership & Nutrien Agriculture Career Ambassadors!

A huge thank‑you to Nutrien for sponsoring this outstanding program through the 4‑H Ag Career Ready Program. Thanks to their support, more than 10 dedicated 4‑H teens from Skagit and Whatcom Counties have been meeting monthly to build leadership skills, explore agricultural careers, and connect with industry professionals.

These teens have also been active out in the community, teaching workshops, participating, and presenting at:

Skagit Farm Circle
Country Living & Modern Homesteading Expo
Whatcom Agriculture & Trades Career Fair
Pizza For Producers

And the excitement continues! In just two weeks, four of our ambassadors will be traveling to Washington, D.C. to attend the National 4‑H Ignite Conference. What an incredible opportunity for them to grow, connect, and represent our region on a national stage.

We’re so proud of their hard work, leadership, and passion for agriculture. Thank you again to Nutrien for helping make this program possible!💚🌾

🌟 Know Your Government 4‑H 2026 Highlights! 🌟

What an incredible year for our KYG teens. This year’s program at Evergreen College gave youth a powerful, hands‑on look at how government works, and they represented Skagit County well!

📜 Legislative Work
Teens reviewed and debated 16 bills, 9 written by counties across Washington, and 7 drawn from current state legislation. Working in four color groups, they held committee meetings, then stepped into House and Senate roles for floor debates and votes.

🏛️ Final Outcomes
Two bills successfully passed both chambers:
• Island County’s bill requiring Narcan and CPR training for middle and high school students and all K–12 staff
• A bill lowering the BAC to .05

These young leaders showed teamwork, confidence, and a real passion for civic engagement. We’re so proud of their hard work and the leadership they brought to Know Your Government 4‑H! 💚
