FRESH FACE FRIDAY: Pfc. Dipak Bashyal, 25, Lexington, recently completed basic training and advanced individual training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He will be joining 301st Chemical Company, 149th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade as a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) specialist (74D).

The training he received has changed his life, according to Bashyal. The biggest takeaway for him was the discipline he learned through training.

Like many, the educational benefits that the Kentucky National Guard offers influenced his decision to join. He also joined to better himself.

“My mom and dad used to say to me, be the better person. So that's my biggest influence to join,” said Bashyal.

Currently, he attends Bluegrass Community and Technical College with plans to transfer to the University of Kentucky where he will major in data science.
