TOWN ELECTION - APRIL 11, 2026!

I took a look at the first campaign finance reports for the School Committee race, and one thing stood out: Aaron Reeves is the only candidate whose campaign is primarily funded by people OUTSIDE of Burlington. Roughly two-thirds of his donations came from people outside of our town.

In fact, Reeves has raised more money from donors outside of Burlington than any other candidate has raised from actual Burlington residents. By contrast, Hillary Kleck, Katherine Bond, and Jeremy Brooks are overwhelmingly supported by local donors.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with receiving outside support. But in a local race like this, it does raise reasonable questions about where that support is coming from and what priorities may be driving it.

Local school committee decisions should reflect the needs and values of the Burlington community. That’s something I think voters should keep in mind.

Excited to announce that I'll be running for reelection this year (April 5 is town election day). As a vocal advocate for progress in our town, I look forward to the opportunity to continue representing Precinct 1!

While it's nice to try to find a bright side here, I don't think it's helpful to just pat everyone on the back and move on. There were issues with communication and transparency. There was an issue with the equipment itself. This shouldn't be a congratulations moment, it should be viewed as an opportunity to evaluate the systems in place and make them better. The fact that I had to find out via Facebook that something was happening in the building where my 3 year old attends preschool is unacceptable. While it's hard to feel helpless, the silver lining I might take from this will only happen if the town, the district, and the police department figure out where they can improve, rather than just saying everything went great. And I'm not saying that there were major problems with the response overall, but there is always room for improvement and that's what we should be striving for, particularly when it comes to our kids' safety.
