Music has a beautiful way of bringing people together.

For generations, the iTaukei and Indo-Fijian communities have shared the same homeland, yet divisions have sometimes kept us from truly connecting. That is why this video of iTaukei Fijians joyfully singing a Bollywood song is so meaningful. It reminds us that music has no boundaries and that we have far more in common than what separates us.

At our recent Talanoa, we saw that same spirit in action, with people of many cultures and backgrounds coming together in conversation, friendship and community.

The US Fiji Chamber of Commerce is proud to help bridge these divides. Our community includes not only iTaukei and Indo-Fijians, but everyone who feels a connection to Fiji or wants to be part of its culture, friendships and future.

The Fiji Trade Commission North America (FTCNA) has played a key role in facilitating and supporting Google’s investment interests in Fiji.

We have worked closely with Google and relevant stakeholders to support this investment in Fiji and continue to maintain a strong working relationship with Google as it advances its current projects and initiatives in the country.

🇫🇯 Bula and welcome to Did You Know Sunday!

Narendra Narayan is a successful businessman, but what makes us especially proud is his generous Fijian spirit of soli, sharing what you have and lifting others along the way.

Both here in the United States and back home in Fiji, Narendra has quietly supported causes close to his heart, including sports, golf, healthcare and scholarships. His giving is thoughtful and often done without seeking recognition.

We may come from a small island nation, but we can make a big difference wherever we go. As we build our businesses and create wealth, may we always remember where we came from and help elevate others with us.

Fiji Trade Commission North America in partnership with the US Fiji Chamber of Commerce hosted a first of many planned Talanoa sessions titled "Fiji & Pacific Diaspora Business Leaders Talanoa" at the Fiji Trade Commission Office in Burlingame on Wednesday evening.

As part of this initiative, the Fiji Trade Commission North America Office and the US Fiji Chamber of Commerce plan to hold similar Talanoa sessions in the coming months in various city and locations around the Bay Area, and in California as a start.

The event brought together diaspora leaders from different professional backgrounds including accounting firms, senior care business, finance and investment, real estate, retail, wholesale, ICT sector, businessmen, leaders of Chambers of Commerce in the Bay Area, charitable organisations, and City leaders.

Participants enjoyed networking, friendship, sharing their stories, discussing business ideas, and ways to help our young diaspora, and giving back to our homeland.

This Talanoa event also provided the Trade Commission Team an opportunity to update guests on business and trade opportunities in Fiji and upcoming trade and investment missions and events this financial year that the Office is planning.

Pranita Venkatesh is serving as Mayor of San Carlos, California, becoming the first Fiji-born mayor of the city.

From our islands to communities around the world, Fijians are leading, building businesses, serving their communities and creating opportunities for the next generation.

It’s that Bula energy we carry wherever we go: warmth, resilience, community and the belief that we can make a difference.

Pranita’s achievement is a proud moment for the Fiji diaspora, but it also sends an important message:

Have you been to Fiji? Or are you lucky enough to call Fiji home? 🇫🇯

Halle Berry recently celebrated her 60th birthday in Fiji and called Fijians “the happiest people on Earth.” Those of us who know Fiji understand exactly what she means.

Yes, the islands are beautiful. But it’s the people, the laughter, the hospitality and that unmistakable Bula spirit that stay with you.
