So tomorrow is the final day for EARLY voting!
Those of you that have been to VOTE, thank you!
I know many people don’t like to get involved with local politics, some only vote for state and national. The thing is that the local level is vital to our towns/city and school districts. The things that affect us daily; our children, safety, traffic, water, waste water to new developments, drainage for excessive rain, etc….even those roundabouts, nail salons, car washes and banks are all decisions made with your local governmental entities.

Evidently, I check the numbers too early…..so, just know that the early voting numbers are extremely low! You can find all of the numbers for the City of Burleson on the city website.

Anyway, I hope you get over to the Ron Harmon Subcourthouse (City of Burleson) tomorrow. And, those of us that are both City of Burleson and Joshua ISD, make a trip over to the JISD Admin building.
Final Election Day is Saturday, May 4!

Y'all, Early Voting numbers are still quite low. Monday through Thursday there were 274 ballots cast. Please get out there and vote!

As of right now, I am just a candidate, a citizen and resident of the City of Burleson. I do not have all of the answers, all of the numbers, or ALL of the solutions to the questions being asked. When elected, I will seek out, do my due diligence, and have access to those answers!

Today I'm getting back to what my expertise and main interest in Candidacy for the Burleson City Council Place 3.
Over the past several years, I have sat on several committees, not only in the City of Burleson, but also on Texas Realtors Public Policy on Infrastructure.
Being a Realtor® I am very immersed in development and infrastructure in my city and county. While I love all of the conveniences, businesses and growth we all see throughout Burleson, the things that we don't necessarily see, but are necessity i.e. water, waster water, electricity, even access to health care are vital to our continued growth. And, of course, don't forget about our roadways.
We are now a town pushing 55,000 residents in the city of Burleson according to the North Central Texas Council of Governments. We anticipate a 3% increase each year.
We have to have the infrastructure in place for homes and businesses. The obvious issue, that we see daily, is traffic; specifically on 174/Wilshire. Did you know that there are already plans in the works? Do you understand how many layers of planning, not only financially but also logistically that have to take place? I want to get in there and be apart of that intricate piece at all levels. When elected, that's where my primary area of concentration will be focused.
I am aware that there are many areas that need to be addressed, but I am not in the position to address those areas at this time.
Things you should know about me:
Some sensitive subjects that have been brought up that I am involved in, but I do not want to make it a part of my campaign or business. I chose to participate of my own accord and not for the notoriety.
This is a non-partisan race. My political affiliation is not of importance. I will say that I am a strong business woman with strong beliefs and I do typically lean to the conservative side. I believe in working hard and that you get out what you put in.

Week before last, I sought out answers to what the concerns about BPD were. I had been asked a few times what I thought about the situation. Honestly, I really didn’t know what they were referring to.
I started by connecting with a few of the police officers. One person I spoke to said, “Why don’t you do a ride along? You’ll get a full perspective.” So, Tuesday night, I had my opportunity!
I was given a thorough tour of the police department. Yes, I see that more space is needed in the BPD building.
We went and drove through Burleson, trust me it looks very different in the officers eyes! They are constantly looking for things that just aren’t right; vehicles with warrants, missing license plates, suspicious activities. Things that I would never think of!
I was able to sit in the 6pm “Roll Call”. The way that the officers speak to one another, making sure everyone is up to date on anything that is going on from calls that came in from the day shift, SWAT trainings, residence to be concerned about, training that had been attended earlier in the day, who is going to what quadrant for the shift. I saw so much camaraderie, a brotherhood if you will. I witnessed so much compassion in order to keep all of us, the citizens, safe.
I watched several stops/conversations of questionable drivers? Sometimes just rolling the window down at a gas station, asking “Where’s your registration sticker.” It was done in a friendly manner. I’m sure the driver had it handled the next day.
I watched and heard across the radio to serious situations where it was like all hands on deck. 2 officers were handling a situation in one area, 2 officers in another section along with paramedics, while I’m pretty sure the rest of the officers were looking for a special needs child. Lots a chatter on the radio! Again, all hands on deck.

My question to 3 of the officers, on Tuesday evening, “What do you need to feel safe to do your job to protect me?”
All 3 gave me different answers, but they all aligned. Surprisingly, it was not pay!
Our officers need training availability. Without leaving the citizens unprotected. Without being told that the budget doesn’t allow it.
We have officers that want to be our protectors, our Hero’s when we need it! We need to allow them to do so without a ton of “red tape.”

I am thankful for the opportunity! When elected, I will get to know the officers better! I will do my best to have open conversations with them to help them keep all of us safe. I do see that we need more officers and dispatchers.

Hey Y’all,
What a busy week this last week has been! I was honored to be apart of Mr. Allard's Neighborhood for the 2nd time! Always great discussion!
I attended CASA of Johnson County’s Jewels and Jeans fund raiser! Again, a great time raising funds and awareness for our foster and orphaned children.
Meet and Greet at Gina’s Pizzeria! I enjoyed getting to meet many of you, shake your hands and speak in person!

A couple of issues that I sought answers and clarification on, as I do like to form my own opinion of importance:
1. I reached out to several members of BPD and other political leaders trying to understand what the needs are. Resulting in, I will be going on a ride along later this coming week!
My stance of right now; I want our officers to feel as safe as possible when on duty. I want them to have a place to feel safe to write reports, have professional conversations and space to learn. All of this to provide the safest Burleson, TX for all of us!
2. Yes, our food banks, Promises and Harvest House, are very sparse right now. I do know that there are several events in the works, that I will participate in, to help alleviate this issue. I do not have a long term solution at this time.
3. I have connected with a few other community leaders that are involved with TXDoT! This is AWESOME! I hope, when elected, we will be able to effectively pull our resources together to get several of the projects underway.

In conclusion, PLEASE get out and VOTE! Early Voting starts tomorrow, at Ron Harmon Subcourthouse! Both Johnson and Tarrant county, Burleson residence can VOTE here.
