We have updated the slides to convey a slight southward trend in the damaging wind and tornado threats for later tonight. The timing has not changed. We have also added an infographic for tornado safety, especially since the threat will be during the nighttime hours.

Good Morning,

A strong-low pressure along with a slow-moving cold front will usher in two rounds of strong to severe storm chances: Round 1 for late tonight and into early Thursday morning, and Round 2 for Thursday afternoon.

Round 1: For tonight, there is increasing confidence on the timing for thunderstorms, which are expected to arrive across southern IN after midnight tonight. The greatest severe potential will be across southern IN, with damaging winds and a few tornadoes possible.

Round 2: For Thursday afternoon, additional strong to severe storms are possible, along with excessive rainfall and flash flooding across south-central KY.

Good morning,

A strong low pressure system and cold front will bring a chance for severe storms to the area late Wednesday night and on Thursday. Several hazards are possible over this period.

- Non-thunderstorm wind gusts of 30-40 mph will be possible on Wednesday ahead of any storms.
- Strong to severe storms arrive late Wednesday night and into the early morning hours on Thursday. Damaging winds and a few tornadoes are the main hazards possible.
- The cold front will move slowly, so additional strong to severe storms are expected through Thursday.
- Repeating rounds of heavy downpours and thunderstorms may lead to excessive rainfall and flash flooding potential across south-central KY.

Good afternoon,

The forecast is still on track for the development of showers and thunderstorms later this evening and overnight. This afternoon, we are already seeing some isolated activity form as another area is weakening as it enters central KY and southern IN. Widespread severe weather isn't expected, but a couple thunderstorms could produce strong to severe gusty winds before weakening as they move to the east. The main threat along and west of the I-65 corridor. Heavy rainfall could also lead to isolated flash flooding.

Good morning,

Today, with high temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90 and with dew points in the low to mid 70s, heat index values will climb into the 90s to low 100s.

Tonight, ahead of a cold front, a weakening line of thunderstorms is expected to push southeast through southern Indiana and central Kentucky. Widespread severe weather isn't expected, but a couple remaining storms could produce strong gusty winds.

Good Morning,

The flood threat over far southeast Indiana and the Bluegrass region of east central Kentucky is quickly diminishing this morning. As we return to dry conditions across the area, we'll quickly transition to heat and very high humidity. This will yield max afternoon heat index values in the 95 to 105 degree range across the area both today and Thursday. Some impacts from the heat are possible for sensitive groups.

We'll have to watch out later Thursday into Friday morning as a line of widespread severe weather develops over the Midwest and then heads toward our region, likely in a weakening phase by the time it gets here. A lingering threat of damaging wind is possible across southern Indiana and north central Kentucky. If the storms overachieve upstream and arrive quicker on Thursday evening, then the threat for damaging winds will be dramatically increased. Stay up to date of the latest forecasts for later Thursday into Friday morning.
