We’ve received several calls about a report seen on a scanner app of a juvenile near the high school with a firearm. We’re not sure why it is showing that it happened in Burkesville but it didn’t. The audio that goes with that report clearly says Campbellsville at the beginning and they have confirmed that they took a call similar to that this morning but, thankfully, the juvenile did not have a firearm. Once again, we’re not sure why the app says Burkesville but we just wanted to assure Cumberland County students and parents that this did not happen here today!

This week, the Department of Criminal Justice Training recognizes National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.

Before an officer arrives, before lights and sirens, there is a telecommunicator gathering information, prioritizing calls, and ensuring the right response is sent quickly and accurately.

These professionals are the first first responders. They serve as the vital link between the public and those responding in the field.

Join us in thanking the telecommunicators across Kentucky who answer the call, day and night, and help keep our communities safe.
